What’s everyone eating 6 weeks post op?

Recommended Posts

I’m meeting my boyfriends family 6 weeks post op (around Christmas) They are southerners! What’s everyone eating? Trying to figure out what majority of people are tolerating at 6 weeks

Per my surgeon, I will be on soft/pureed foods for 10 weeks (after 2 weeks of liquids) which lands right in the middle of the holidays!

I was on a pretty normal diet by then - steak, chicken, veg, etc. Greek yogurt and a few berries for Snacks, maybe an occasional Protein Shake if I was short for the day, (very) small salads with a couple ounces of meat and cheese for lunches - overall fairly normal things. But it all depends upon how your surgeon's program progresses (as above, some are slower than others) and how you tolerate things, which can also be a big variable.

at 6 weeks I was on a regular diet, just eating smaller than children's portions.
I've just spent the last week at universal studios and survived eating within my dietary guidelines.

And then over in Bypass-ville you have MEn 6 weeks tomorrow, on Stage 2A and staying there until October 26th when my surgeon's partner Dr Noria attempts again to stretch out my stoma stricture so I can move on with my diet.💦😭💦

I'm eating most of all normal foods except beef and pork, I tried beef but my tummy is not ready for it yet. But yeah my program allows all foods at 6 weeks but they do advise us about beef and pork.

That’s so reassuring. They’re vegetarian thankfully. What about portions? I’m worried they’re think I don’t like the food

More importantly, what does your RD or doc's office say about your diet at 6 weeks? They are all SO very different! I was eating about 1/4-1/3c of food at 6 weeks and anything I wanted. About 2oz of food.

I was eating anything I wanted. Just ultra small portions. Beef and pork...no problem. The only think I can’t tolerate more than a nibble of...bread, especially a biscuit.

Small portions of anything I could tolerate at that point.
Just tell them you’re on a diet and watching portion sizes .

Less than a child’s portion. Just a few oz.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
