Hot sauce junkies.

Recommended Posts

I know having seasonings and spices are fine after surgery, but what about serious hot sauces? I asked my nutritionist about it, and she was like "oh, curry powder and red pepper flakes are fine!"

No, no. I meant like Trinidad Scorpion/Carolina Reaper Death Sauce kind of hot sauce. Start-crying-when-you-smell-it hot sauce.

Currently, I don't get any upset stomach from any level of the Scoville. I douse crazy hot sauce on pretty much everything.

Anyone a hot sauce junkie? Can you tolerate it post-op?

The answer to that better be hell to the yes because I got a ghost pepper plant in my back yard that refuses to be ignored!

I would wait until you're fully healed as those hot sauces cause ulcers. Last thing you want is ulcers in your new tiny belly.

I have always loved and tolerated all levels of heat, post surgery my belly is much more sensitive

I love hot things also and I’ve never had a problem! Now 5 days post-op I have such heartburn that I couldn’t imagine having ANYTHING spicy right now!! But every day it’s getting better so I’m hoping to add some spice soon!! Good luck!!

That's actually not true

I don't like ghost pepper level spice. But I started eating spicy foods within two weeks, had no issues with it.

I don't remember when I started going back to the really hot stuff, but by 6 months I could handle ghost peppers heat. HOWEVER - I don't enjoy it like I used to. Honestly, they taste... different. "Off" even. It's kind of like when I tasted biscuits and gravy for the first time post-op.

Biscuits & gravy was my favorite meal. It was what I would have for dinner on my birthday, it was my "last meal" before surgery. One very small bite a year and 4 months post op and I spat it out. Haven't had it since and really don't miss it. So much of our palate changes post op, don't be surprised if you no longer like the flavor of many of the peppers. I find I like the milder and sweeter habanero peppers now and I never cared for them before. I always preferred the smokiness of ghost.

YASSSSS! I am a tabasco, Sriracha, Franks, Cholula kind of girl and have already put some in my broth at 1 week out. I grow Habaneros and tabasco peppers and love jalapenos. I do not need higher level heat,I'm happy right here. So far no issues. Looking forward to lubing my soft goods with hot sauces!

Yah, food doesn't cause ulcers... but when you HAVE an ulcer.. you can't have spicy food. I can't even tolerate pepper right now! The littlest kick of anything is utter misery. Bland nation. ;(

I had a ton of fairly expensive hot sauces from pre-op and they are all gunna go bad (no preservatives). I am heartbroken. lol. My favorite hot sauces are from Heartbreaking Dawns and I can't wait until the day I can douse everything in their sweet (spicy) nectar.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
