2 oz of warm chicken broth is my new best friend

I really don’t care about eating or drinking but know I have to get 64oz of liquid in today . Left hospital yesterday and that big Vitamin IV bag will start to dissipate in my system by Monday . Don’t want to go the dehydration route

👍that’s how I did it the Beef broth isn’t bad either. In the beginning I would grab broth at Shaw’s ,Whole Foods sometimes there steam tables have all different kinds mixes things up a bit .

Hey guys I was sleeved on Friday i had a really tough time getting my fluids and Proteins yesterday but am getting in a little better today. I am setting an alarm to be sure I am drinking an ounce every fifteen minutes or so. Dealing with a headache today is that due to lower fluids? Any thoughts would be appreciated

Go for a walk if you feel food is stuck I also have taken a sip here and there when food is stuck
Yeah, the no drinking within a half hour of eating is a guideline for the beginning. A little Fluid can help move some badness along in my experience...but if you drink too much your going to to be pounding your chest like King Kong to make the cramp go away.

I went to a family holiday party yesterday and I made a bariatric friendly lasagna. For the first time in my life, I didn't think about having pre dinner appetizers. I had 1.5 tablespoons of my bariatric lasagna and was full (needed to walk off some chest pain). I also had absolutely no interest in dessert and some of my old family favorites were present. It was like a true Christmas miracle!!!!

Made it up myself. Just the same as a meat lasagna but with low fat ingredients and not Pasta. I used one pound of organic 85% fat free chopped beef from Trader Joe's. I browned the meat in a large skillet with a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, clove of garlic and sea salt. I add some fresh tomatoes and Vittoria's Marinara a couple of tablespoons and cook until browned.I then used a pureer to make sure it had the right consistency (nice and smooth, no lumps). I ladled in the meat into a small cake tin. I covered the meat with a 4oz of low fat rigotta cheese (cottage cheese would work too). I them covered the rigotta with a few tablespoons of Tomato sauce. Then I covered the sauce with a thin layer of part skim fresh mozzarella and parmagean cheese. I then baked it uncovered at 375 for 45 minutes. When done let it sit on the counter for 20 minutes before serving. It is easy to make, delicious and went down easy and was very satisfying (even if only ate a few teaspoons). Even my kids loved it and asked me to make it again.

Here's a picture of the leftovers:1545598337112.thumb.jpeg.c4835c880b28569cfd6523a45db3ce21.jpeg

True, but the zucchini (or I prefer eggplant) isn't ideal for the puree/soft stage.

I like your recipe also, even more simple than mine and I am an Eggplant fancier myself. May try to grow some this summer when the soil warms up. Did you know eggplant are only temprature tolerant down to 45 degrees F?

Anyone else have an easy/hard time with liquids during their 2 week post op? I’ve read not to be too concerned regarding “restriction” during this phase, but man I’m not feeling too much of any restriction with Protein Drinks or even sugar free pudding really. Maybe a little bit with the pudding... but I’m only eating the one serving. I’m also experiencing some real head hunger but I guess from what I’ve read this is somewhat normal during this full liquid stage too? Reading you guys talking about bariatric lasagna... 😳 Brother, that day can’t come soon enough! I’m suppose to move onto purées this next Thursday. Any ways, I’m having a tough time with full liquids, not because it’s hard to get them down, but because it’s easy to get them down, if that makes sense? Sticking to it regardless! I knew liquids through the holidays wasn’t going to be easy. :) I’m just hoping that once I get onto purées I feel restriction, and with that a feeling of being satisfied.

I am really glad you posted this. I have been a little worried because my recovery has been so easy. It hurt to drink on the first 2 days. But I am 6 days post-op and I can almost drink like normal. I don't think I could chug a whole Snapple, but I don't need to take small sips either. That said, I am in the soft/puree stage on my program's diet and an ounce of food will cause pain and make me pound my chest and have to take a walk. I am also losing a pound a day since surgery, so something is working. If you can drink with relative ease, I think you should just consider yourself lucky!! It doesn't mean your sleeve is too big or anything like that. You are just healing well and ready to move to the next stage.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
