Pureed food ideas

Recommended Posts

I made a cauliflower/cheese Soup that was delicious pureed.

I also ate applesauce, Greek yogurt, smoothies, etc. I couldn't stand the texture of pureed meat. I just waited for soft foods for that.

My doctor allowed canned tuna, salmon, and chicken in the pureed stage. Find a recipe for Ricotta Bake - a lot of people rave about that. Refried Beans and guacamole. Hummus. Personally I love Indian food and a lot of their dishes are in pureed form.

Have you checked the food and nutrition forum? There are some pureed ideas. Also, Pinterest.

I ate a lot of Soups, yogurts, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese and various stews. My favorite was zucchini stew.

Those all sound good! I’m day 5 post op right now and am having trouble even keeping Water down. Very nervous right now, as i feel worse today than any day so far.

This is the one I used: https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/cauliflower-soup/

I didn't make a roux, instead I used a suggestion that someone mentioned in the comments and used coconut milk mixed with a little (maybe 1T) cornstarch to thicken. After it was cooked, I used a stick blender to puree it. There were still a few small chunks, but the veggies were very soft, so no problems.

Experiment with water daily. It may be temperature, or texture tap vs. Bottled. Flavor vs plain. I'm almost at week 4 and my water intake changes every few days because I have to change it up to make my body accept

I'm in it right now in fact. I've had apple sauce, blended plums, pureed vegetable Soup and turkey chili, miso soup with soft tofu and a salmon mousse, which admittedly may have been a little premature. I also went to an Italian deli, bought a meatball with tons of sauce and blended that as well. It was actually not bad.

Yeah, I should probably ease into it more than I am doing right now. I feel like I'm a mad scientist testing things out, and my friend told me I sound like one of those YouTube channels that asks "Will it blend?"

I am pumping the breaks a bit more as the week progresses. Currently I'm having slow bites of tuna salad. Like a nibble and walk away, one taste at a time.

Can I ask, what kind of food stage schedule does your doctor use? I had surgery on 9/10 and I’m supposed to be on Clear Liquids until 9/24, puréed 9/25-10/8, adaptive/soft 10/9-12/9. Seems like such a long time but I’m sure he has set it this way for a reason. At least now I understand why the other people at my meetings were complaining about just wanting a salad SO badly! Lol

My favorite thing so far and I am,on pureed meats. and the rest,of stage 3. Musselmans unsweetened applesauce, far superior to Motts, which has a bitter aftertaste. I would not, have, thought, but 3 saltines, each, with a teaspoon of p-butter counts as a meal. Who,would have thunk?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
