Seems most of us who were sleeved in the last 3-5 weeks are all experiencing the frustration of the scale sticking. Sucks! But it seems to happen to everyone...it will pick up for us too!

Yes Butterfly, Chrissy gave great advice. My drink of choice is milk of magnesia but Miralax works too. When I take it, I still take Colace because the stool softener is needed.

Hello All. Just wondering if what I'm currently feeling is normal. 15 days out, and for the past few days everything I eat just makes me feel nauseated. I'm getting in my Protein and fluids (fairly religiously), and as of Wednesday this week I've been adding in more foods and crackers/toast. But, I'm just not excited about food. Something sounds good, but as soon as I eat it I just feel completely turned off and can barely finish anything except fluids. Normal?? Anyone else? Thanks for listening.

I think everyone’s plan is different. Mine allows me to have toast but not untoasted bread or crackers.

I felt and still feel the same way. Something may sound really good but then I’ll be totally disinterested when I start to eat. Most of the time it’s a chore to eat. I think it’s pretty normal in the beginning. My plan is different than most. I’m supposed to eat every 2 hours right now. Even though it could be as little as a glass of milk, it takes a lot of effort to get it down.

What's your weight loss goals...
Height: 5'6"
Surgery Date: 10/15/18
Highest Weight: 260 (At 260 I lost 80 on phentermine, gained 70 back, then sought out surgery a couple of years later.)
Surgery Weight: 244
Current Weight: 227
Goal Weight Set w/ Dr: 175
Stretch Goal Weight: 150
I was taking Milk of Magnesia but stopped due to cramps. Now I'm taking generic Colace, which seems quite good. I take it as needed (every time) on my work from home day (Wed) and a weekend day to avoid diarrhea at work.
On a couple days when I have had stalls, I've felt like my body has gone into starvation mode and just added a little mashed avocado or nut butter. It makes me feel better and I think it has helped with the stalls.

It is strange how it is all so different. Maybe each surgeon makes our pouches a little different and they know what is best for their work. I don’t know but I do know that 1/4 c 3 times a day would be very hard for me. Oh and I also forgot to add I’m eating every 3 hrs or a shake. I will also say that I felt like I was ahead of schedule with progress and everything I was trying was going down ok. This past weekend I had some regression and started to get very nauseous after eating everything with pain and could not eat as much as I had been. I’m not sure if I tried too many new things too fast or if something I ate irritated me but It definitely let me know that I need to be careful. I did a day of liquid and now taking it slow.

I had the same thing happen with the nausea again, so yesterday I did the whole day of just liquid and today I feel quite a lot better thankfully!

Ok so I sort of feel lucky but also weird. I am 2 weeks postop as of tomorrow. Since the beginning of my 2 week liquid diet I have lost 36 pounds. I just got through a 5 day stall where I didn't lose a single pound. My weight loss is rapid, really really rapid, for which I am grateful. I had my postop appt on Friday and my surgeon said that since I am able to get in all my Protein and liquid, and that I have a good metabolism and dense muscle mass, he thinks its fine. However, I am worried about when this little honeymoon ends. During the 5 day stall I found myself down and depressed and worried if I was doing something wrong. I know I am doing just right and my body is just settling into the huge fast weight loss I just had, but I still have those little voices and feelings that I am not really gonna lose weight, that this wont really work for me, that I am not good enough to be so lucky. Anyway, I have been a bit emotional the last couple days, and down. I have something else very difficult and sad I am going through currently and of course can't eat my pain, so I expect it. Just, I wish I could relax and enjoy this, without second guessing myself, without feeling like I don't deserve it.

Now, I am not particularly the whiny type usually, but I figured I would reach out here since you guys are going through the same kinds of things. Can anyone else identify with these feelings or should I be worried that this may not be transient, that I need professional help now and quickly.

Thanks guys, this stuff is harder than it seemed like it would be in some ways, and easier than it seemed like it would be in others. I appreciate you guys sharing and being awesome!

FlyAwayFree, I think talking to someone would help. Like us, an OA meeting, a therapist, a dietitian, whoever makes you comfortable. You may stall or even gain, but it really is a marathon, not a sprint. I think you are doing awesome. You've lost 50 lbs!!!!

Hi flyawayfree! I’m glad you shared your feelings. First, let me say you do deserve to be healthy and happy! So don’t have doubts about that.

I’m about 4 weeks post op. I’ve stopped obsessively weighing myself because it’s making me crazy! I’m going by how I feel and look and how my clothes fit.

I think how you’re feeling is normal. I would definitely suggest seeking out a therapist who can help you quiet the doubt in your head and help with the tough time you’re going through now. The BP forum is very helpful too but a therapist would be great to help too!

Best of luck to you! You’ve done the right thing for yourself! Keep up the great work!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
