@sillykitty this could be you! I'd have to smuggle a Mai Tai or a boat drink in for you! :D

It totally could be me!

Except I rarely go to Houston, and don't fly United, so never connect though there. If you lived in Atlanta you's be sick of meeting me at the airport  You wouldn't have to sneak anything in, I'd buy you one and expense it :P

Did you mention Austin?? I LOVE Austin, even despite the fact it's in Texas, I forgive it!

I'm guessing it's nearly all bloat. I would get that when I went from eating fairly cleanly, to vacation shenanigans. Not enough cals to account for the major gains, and they'd drop off once I was back on plan.

For ME, I think it was the wild swings in cals that caused my body to gain. Like it was trying to hold on to every cal! So I was super afraid of maintenance. But now my cals are wayyy higher than they were during the losing phase, and I'm still losing, although slowly. So maybe my body just likes consistency? Even if it is consistently high-ish?

Maybe so?! That's just super for you whatever the reason though!!! And yeah, maybe there is something to be said for consistency? And goodness, don't we all want to be able to eat more and still lose/maintain?!! Yeeee-the-frick-ha! Right? :D

I also think maybe you've healed your body a bit with the IF? Made it so that you are more insulin sensitive so you have less of a huge load of insulin dumped on you when you eat with shenanigans intent! :) :D I just know I'm so happy for you to be at your goal of 140lbs!!! Wooot!!!!

Hahaha! We have multiple airlines at IAH. :D Maybe you could trade Atlanta for IAH for your connections? hehe! Sadly the UA terminal sucked! We only had about 8 seats to choose from down in the baggage claim area and everything else was behind security. So without a tix, we couldn't go anywhere not even for bad airport coffee! :( But we had a lovely visit and I talked way way too much. She is just a darling (and petite) lady. And such a great hug! Like all my Christmas wishes came true. You know? Her hug was just so open and loving and caring and a million dollar smile! She's a special girl! We are all blessed by her friendship!

Ha! And we have ways to get around the IAH lockdown! ;) I could have a wine bra delivered tomorrow! bahahahaha! Two words...

Maybe? Or maybe there has been a metabolic change? Or maybe this is still just my honeymoon period, and eventually I'll need to be more diligent to keep the weight off? Not sure, but I'm just enjoying it while it lasts :D

You may have just saved me $10K on a boob job, and $100's on stadium beverages

Not to mention, your popularity rating may have risen even higher than with having a new PS rack! ;) You'd be the hit of any party, tradeshow or sporting event! :D

You could maybe even open a dispensory for things like public transportation! :D

Thought this was pretty cool! From Dr. Apel at Blossom. I don't know him, but saw this posted by someone on "the Facebook". LOL. Thought I'd share with my IF fam!

Ok, was absent from here, life, baking, life, t-giving, etc. I will read all the posts later, just skimmed a few pages.

So to all my peeps here, I see some sad news, some good news, some contrition....

Thanksgiving I made 7 pies, and a ton of the usual food, plus Soup with homenade egg noodle after. Was only up 3 pounds and two are gone already. Oh.... someone gifted me sourdough starter and I made slow rise pizza dough, otherwise just feeding the little beast and resisting baking anything else with it. BUT today starts the cookie baking, toffee making fest....I can usually resist eating most of this until later in the month.

So this week I might be able to go commando (not talking skipping underwear lol) for drastic Atkins, I have the original book. Following week the hubs and I are going to timeshare in the Dells for a week just for grins and I won't be around much temptation there either cuz we cook and only eat out once, plus there is a square dance yeeha!!! (We go junking, hot tub, etc and just hanging out, lots of cardio😍.)

That's so beautiful it makes me cry! *I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy!!*

Ok, glad to see you back and that you're only up 3lbs! Funny enough, that's where I am as of this morning's poopsicles! :D Yeeeehawwww!

Woooohooo on the Dells, square dancing, hot tubs, and CARDIO! :D :D 🤩

We missed you. Don't ever leave us again. :D

Ok, so hop over to the AMAW CAMAW thread tomorrow and start with "us" (pssst, it may be only you, me, and the crickets!) Do it your way. Just like at Burger King! :)

I'm so jealous of your starter. You may be drying some and mailing it to me. ;) hehehe. I used to keep one and threw it out when we started low carb in 2000. But now, I'm thinking I would convert it to spelt starter and then use it sparingly with cauliflower flower and some low carb flour alternatives and Fiber flours! It would be fun to speriment!

I'm starting my baking tomorrow with my Christmas bread - 3cheese Italian Pagnotta bread. Very high hydration and can be done with either a poolish or with a starter. Both turn out great! I am also making Union Cafe Bar Pecans, and will do shortbread, oatmeal raisin, choco chip with nuts, and that may be it. I'm never tempted to eat the Cookies. And I'm ok not eating the bread. I usually eat 1/4 of a slice over Christmas/New Years time. No biggie. But it's a crapton of time on my feet--which isn't a bad thing! :)

I
will probably do the cookies week after next. We can be baking buddies! ;)

Aww I miss you guys too.💖

I am in a serious cursing, fit throwing funk today. I have too much housework to do, laundry and decorating to do. I love love love my granddaughters, but I am sick of parenting them for 3 1/2 years.

I am still in the obese category. I'm so vain about my hair and it has looked like dogshit for 9 months. It looks like a cross between one of those Chinese crested dogs and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. ( I bought some hella expensive Shampoo, it better work.)

And now I feel like a total **** for being in a mood, Scarlette put on Christmas music and was putting on a show to make me laugh..

I seriously heart you girl! I can't even imagine what you've gone through and are presently going through along with all the stress. You have a giant heart and great will. You got this!!!! And you made me snort coffee (hella experience) ;) at the idea of crossing a Chinese crested dog with Ruth Bader Ginsburg. ROFL!!!!! So forkin' funny! ((hugs and great hair wishes for you))

I told someone about my "hair piece" that I put over my 1/2" pony to make my messy bun. She's a hair dresser. I kinda waved at the top of my head and said, "Yeah, this is all smoke and mirrors. I really have about 3 hairs and a wish that are continually looped around my head to make it look like I have hair." LOL, I made an appointment with her for a hair cut next week...*terrified*

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
