Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability

Recommended Posts

Well, I am doing fine. No snacking, delaying bf about 3 hours and finding out it works for me. Cut carbs back most days around 24, the rest 30-50.

Dr. Cywes really hit the ball out of the park for me it seems. He also said the reality is we cannot be perfect at this all the time, don't think of this journey as having a goal, THIS is the goal in essence.

My occasionally (s) were more like frequently (s) of consuming the carbs. Can we just talk granddaughter's homemade strawberry cupcakes for her birthday here? LOL I baked them. Then I just thought about sugar nonstop - put down the cupcakes (drugs).

I have had good restriction from the beginning, I just pretended (lying) I wasn't eating that many bad carbs. BUT those months might have been a glimpse at what maintenance looks like when I get there. At my age, it is unpredictable and since I have not been at a normal weight for over 42 years it will take some time to figure out.

And from reading there are issues with weight gain 3-5 yrs out in many cases.... but at age 70 who knows what that will look like.

So anyone doing IF for the immediate benefits?

Yes when i started to research i wanted to erase hunger that crept in. It works. Plus fat slurping / muscle sparing lol. It works for that too.

But ultimately i do just want to live forever 😂

Yep! It all started for me cuz I wanted appetite control, to bust a stall, play a new game I wasn’t bored with, and to feel the energy I have on fasting days. Then I fell down the autophagy/longevity rabbit hole! Now I want to live forever and hang out drinking matcha with @GreenTealael

LOL.

Maybe I should explain what I mean with immediate benefits.

I notice the following:

1) I need less sleep.

2) Even if I had not enough sleep during the night crawling out of bed is easier than usually.

3) I feel more concentrated at work and less tired.

4) Stressful situations seem to be easier to manage - no idea why that is.

So in sum I guess I'm in love with the cortisol and catecholamine rush. After a while even the cold hands and this feeling-a-little-wired has mostly subsided.

I had a super high calorie (relatively speaking) and super high carb day yesterday and had trouble avoiding grazing frequently during my window. For at least today (which is last day of spring break/working from hone), I’m going to narrow my window to six hours instead of eight. Pushing back first meal to 1:30 and going to try to stay focused and busy between now and then!

I figure that it makes sense for the first few days/weeks on IF to be a time to play around with windows and what works best for me! I know things will also look different once I’m back at work and have a different daily routine!

It absolutely will. At first you will have mini hungry hungry heifer days and mini binges. No worries. Try to take the best next bite. Don't give into the full day even if you blow a meal or a snack. Try to eat as much dense lean Protein with fat that you tolerate. And try for dense or raw veggies as a snack, or hard boiled eggs.

Also as you get used to IF, you won't have nearly as many of those bingish days. Part is probably due to hormones and shark week too. You're doin' great!

Thank you so much for that reassurance! I did buy eggs the other day but haven’t hard-boiled them yet, I’m going to make sure to do that today so I have them on hand! I did get lots of veggies and I have chicken I’ll cook up too. I like the idea of trying to start with a denser meal (vs yogurt) and seeing how that impacts my hunger and snacking levels!

Thanks!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
