This European had to google "colby cheese".

Ahh sometimes forget! Tastes like gouda and mild swiss mixed together (to me anyway)

This is the best thread! I love seeing what you all eat.

I'm still in the research phase. My mom and sister had the band. I've seen how they could eventually eat more than a few forks' full.

Is that how it works....you eat very little at first, and then your stomach stretches a little so that you can eat a little more?

I know I'll never go back to normal portions.

Depends on the surgery but yes.

With VSG you may have a reduction in hunger, strong restriction initially controlling caloric intake per eating session and *pyloric valve remains intact.

With RNY you have a smaller stomach attached directly to the intestines so initially you may have reduced hunger but mostly caloric and nutritional malabsorption, *pyloric valve and below is bypassed until the intestines reunited lower in the digestive tract.

Duodenal switch/SIPS/etc. You will have a mixture. The anatomy of VSG higher in the digestive tract before a complex rerouting of Intestines lower in the digestive track with a mixture of restrictions & caloric/nutritional malabsorption.

*Pyloric valve controls frequency and timing of the emptying of stomach contents into intestines

ABSOLUTELY all of these surgeries can be worked around/cheated on by overconsumption of calories/increased frequencies of meals/etc which leads to major regain. Sometimes this stretches the newly revised stomach but for most it's the excess calories long-term that's the real problem. For most people these surgeries are just jumpstarts to better habits or changed lifestyles to maintain the weight ❤

Ya'll. I miss eating salads. I loved them pre surgery. Like last meal loved. But my stomach hates it. Tonight I had a small salad, went down ok. Immediately threw it up. [emoji24][emoji24][emoji24][emoji24]

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
