all. the. time.

case in point. this was "dinner" - slash - movie Snacks a couple days ago cuz we were both too lazy and not very hungry at the same time: a suacer of random candies from the pantry:

clockwise from top: polvoron, reeces peices, trader joes chocolate covered espresso Beans, mini reeces Peanut Butter cup, a ferraro roche, and candied pumpkin seeds.

dont judge us!

shared it with Mr. over a couple hours watching "Asteroid City". Aside: thumbs up for the movie from him, thumbs "meh" from me. but he always likes the kooky movies lol.

No judgement here! I realized that sometimes if I have to cook I’d rather not eat 🤡

Also I’ll take your side on Asteroid City (having never seen it 😂) I hate all Wes Anderson films, except The Squid and The Whale.

I'm a fan of konjac noodles. This is very tasty. I use it as a base and added some veggies. For the Soup, 30 calories total. I ate it all. The kimchi flavor was my favorite but the Miso and Tomato was good too. 20231128_133655.thumb.jpg.c0a3e9a1bb70e1221c309f94195660bd.jpg

I’ve been eating a lot of eggs lately. The pancakes I ate half a stack (kid and I split them to try) and didn’t eat the other half and sent home with the kid. 😂 Also, these fryums from the Indian grocery are a new addiction by air frying at 400 for 3 minutes.

I rarely ever finish a meal in one sitting and it usually I either graze on it or eat it the next meal. However I am 2yrs out from revisions (one lifesaving) and can eat 2 scrambled eggs and half an English muffin for a meal most of the time.

Christmas drinks cooking yesterday. This time Brie bites. Easy to make & yummy. Quarter teaspoon grain mustard, piece of Brie, 1/2 teaspoon cranberry sauce in puff pastry, bake then sprinkle with some pieces of grilled prosciutto.

Went to what is supposed to be this excellent restaurant last week. Been wanting to go for a while but thought they only had a degustation menu & recently discovered they did have a la carte. Chose John Dory fillet with beurre blanc sauce split with wasabi leaf oil & asparagus. Started off okay but am still looking for the asparagus - extremely finely diced & barely a teaspoon. Then the third slice of the fillet was super salty & couldn’t eat it. So disappointed. My friends enjoyed their meals so at least there was that. Oh & it cost $58 (about $39 US). Crazy prices here now. Last year it would have been 10-15 Aust $ less.

Raspberry Chia oatmeal- (not my portion but it was pretty). I eat oatmeal maybe once a year.

Also Steak fries w/ketchup and BBQ Sauce. I eat potatoes at least once a month. Anyone else still eating these carbs regularly?

I eat porridge a bit, especially now I'm in maintenance. Potatoes almost never but if I have to, then skin ON. They were an absolute staple before surgery (I'm Irish) but I approach them with real caution now. White carby things (bread, rice, Pasta, potatoes) don't contain enough goodness to tempt me any more. If I do eat them it's wholegrain/brown/skin on versions and in small portions after I've had something properly nutritious.

*Obviously other than during the holiday season when I loosen up a bit without guilt*

I like the thought of eating porridge better than actually eating it. I am always disappointed when I retry it. It just sits like a heavy alien in my stomach all day. I think this would be very useful if I need to loose some weight again. Two small bowls of it and I would be ok all day.

I have never been a potato person. I much preferred rice, noodles or Pasta. To me potatoes need lots of butter to make them edible, luckily that would make me get the foamies.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
