Cheez its, my little snack

I agree. I feel stronger for having the Cheezits in the pantry and not eating them. It makes me feel like a warrior LOL

And that’s a fair CHOICE For you to make. You just said you HAVE to and that’s definitely an overstatement. If you chose to do so, more power to you!

Yes. But for our family it was important to me to yeah my kids healthier a healthier lifestyle. My husband can certainly make his own choices and sometimes he chooses crap and other times he doesn’t, but I don’t chose to cook crap anymore.  I don’t think that keeping it in my house is necessary.  I think structuring my life for success is as valid and useful a choice as “facing and conquering.”  

I’m just saying no one needs cheezits. Not even my fifteen year old 6’3” athlete of a son. He can eat healthier options.  He can also chose cheezits.  But he doesn’t NEED them.  Just like some don’t allow video games, I don’t allow cheezits in my House.  I don’t judge those who do, but I don’t think I need to conquer anything.  Keeping them out of my house is just as valid a choice.

There is no one path to long term success.  Keeping cheezits out of my house has kept me at goal for five years and I have no reason to believ it won’t continue.

I don't feel like quoting, but I did make my family change the way the way we eat and I (mostly) took away the junk food. Not so much so I wouldn't be tempted, because I had to deal with that with the dieting and the liquid diet. But more because my husband eats terribly and my son is overweight or becoming overweight fast and I want him to see there are better choices, blah blah blah. But I currently have FIVE things of ice cream in my house, two bags of chips, chex mix (my old vice) and I do bake them the occasional dessert or muffin. I don't ban it, but I don't generally buy it. I'm super proud to say that since my surgery we haven't had pizza (frozen or takeout) or chicken nuggets and fries or spaghetti all the time. Everything has been healthy and homemade.

I mean, no...I don’t have to. Just like I don’t *have* to go to the grocery store. I think you read into my original post too much. I buy cheezits for my husbands lunches each week. I don’t have to, he doesn’t hold a gun, but I do because I take on the responsibility of the shopping.  Just like he doesn’t have to mow the grass. But if I didn’t buy them, he had his own money, he’d buy them for himself. So why put up that fight lol. I just choose to do the same things that I did before surgery.

I totally get it. I've made lots of dinners and treats for the family, and I'm also giving them a lot of healthy food. They were a little shocked at the steak salads (no potatoes? No bread? ) we had one day this week. LOL. But I usually cooked healthy food before, too, and sweets don't tempt me at all (put a pile of chips/nachos in my way and watch out, though!!). But I'm like you, Ash, I like to feed my family. It's an expression of love.

Yeah I cook a lot healthier now too, so therefore he eats better too. Thankfully he is healthy as a horse, despite his bad lunch habits.

I figured most vets or semi vets would have tried them [emoji4]

If you see the Sonoma Creamery ones, give them a try, they're my fave that I've had.

I tried them at the airport before a transatlantic flight and the were almost gone before I saw the ocean ... slider foods

So I say these are special occasions things for me and I'd rather eat pastries on special occasions tbh lol

I have watched a box of cheezits sit in my cupboard for months. My mom and daughter love them.
Ate one today to see if I was missing out on something special.
Bleh! You guys have gotta be kidding! LOL...different strokes for different folks for sure!
But I get it.
I had to flush a bag of cinnamon imperials...because they sing to me. I know, I know...gross little cinnamon candies...how in the world could THAT be tempting? No clue, but I love them with a love deeper than a smother.
We all have our weirdness:lol:
What are those?

That is wonderful, I still cook normally for my family, which was never bad but now I don't eat Pasta, rice, bread or Snacks anymore , and my children call me a nosnackaterian

Many paths to loss and maintenance however some wisdom should be gleaned from the Veteran experience, thanks for the Advice! This first year will be a breeze but come year two and three we will have to WORK and I suspect we will be employing some of these tactics, at least I will... For sure...

I feed my family as an act of love too. Heck, my husband leaves for work at 5:30 am and I get up every single morning and make him Breakfast before he goes. I have for over 20 years every single morning. Pack him a lunch and then cook dinner in the evening. My kids too.

Part of that love is cooking and preparing healthy things for them. And part of his love to me is not caring if I keep cheezits out of the house. I get them treats on occasion. Fig newtons are a favorite and they have a whole wheat version. And if they want a junk treat once in a while it’s Doritos or Cheetos, just not cheezits. I don’t want them in the house. My family is healthier without them too so it’s love all the way around.

Choices.

Sorry ash you just said you had to but then for him so I was just exploring that statement.

Hell yes to 100 calories worth of cheez- it’s . I was eating them daily and still lost my 110lbs .... I’m not a Nazi with carbs and such. Being like that only harms my mental state... not a way to solve the issue. I have stopped buying them for now. Now I eat that amount in popcorn.

      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

        Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

        Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

        I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

        I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

        BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
