New ~ just started my journey

Hey everyone ~ my name is Gina and I live in Ky. I have just recently started my lapband journey. My insurance will pay for my surgery 80% but of course my primary physician has to send my medical records and a letter stating that the lapband is medically neccessary. My insurance then takes my record before a medical board and reviews it to determine if they will pay for it. This can take 30 days. My doctor sent all this out yesterday evening ~ YaY. But now I'm so nervous, I'm so afraid they will turn me down. Like I told my husband ~ if they approve it then in the long run I would actually save them money because the surgery will help with a lot of my medical problems. Sorry if it sounds like I'm rambling, I am just so excited and nervous all at the same time lol. Thanks for reading though!!

Hi Gina! Welcome to LBT!! I too am just starting. I've got the medical records sent but...I have a ton of hoops to jump through, but it's worth it! You know, the psych. evaluation, cardiologist...ect. I too am nervous that I will be turned down--I don't have too many co-morbities...YET. I'm 19. Anway, keep us posted! Good luck!

Hi Gina! I am new to the site, not yet banded but starting on my journey as well. I wish you luck. My insurance is an 80% deal too but I am not sure of the details just yet. I have my inital consult with the surgery center on Friday. They advertise that they do all the work to get you approved. I sure hope that ends up being true. Have you already found your surgeon? I found mine from reading these threads. I am sooo glad I found this site.
