Almost quit on Day 1 of my pre-op liquid diet

Recommended Posts

I was told 60 grams of Protein a day max (they actually changed the preop liquid diet at my office last month— it used to be 30grams!!)
I’m on day 5 (OMG surgery is on Wednesday!!!!!!!), and I’m down 8 pounds — I’ll take it.
My headaches are gone, but I’m really tired. I’ve found myself getting shaky sometimes throughout the day, but if I eat something with protein, that resolves itself. I tried to go cold turkey on caffeine this week, but caved in on day 2 after a massive Migraine. I’m drinking about 1/4 of the amount of coffee that I’m used to, so I hope that will help post op.
Hows everyone else doing?? Can we start a support group somewhere to check in with each other? Facebook? Is that allowed??

My shakes have 30 grams of protein and I have to drink 5 a day. That’s a lot of protein.

How is everyone doing? Today I’m feeling good. I do get tired a lot or maybe I’m just bored but I’m no longer miserable and that’s more than I could ask for. Also for once I felt full after drinking my shake and my Water, I had to sit still and really concentrate on what I was feeling to believe it. Full? Me? How? Lol but there I was satisfied. I think as the head hunger fades or becomes more manageable this becomes more doable. If I was feeling now how I felt the 1st two days I wouldn’t be on day 6 no way, I would have surrendered to those ribs I wanted so bad and a cold beer [emoji23]

Glad you are getting better at it. For me, this preop diet just validates that I ate for comfort not hunger. I actually feel more tempted now than the first few days but I'm not hungry. It's more out of habit. The great news is I am down 10 lbs.

You are doing great! More than a diet this has been a learning experience for you. I’m happy for you that you are so self aware. I believe you will do well because you know where you went wrong. It’s impossible to stop bad habits if we’re unaware of them. Day 6 and we going strong [emoji123]

For some reason I can’t wait to get to day 7 Bc I think I’ll feel like I’m passed the F* this point [emoji28]

Day 5 here and this morning I was down 8 pounds... It does feel a little easier. For me it's easiest when I work because I stay distracted and busy all day.

Scale hasn’t moved for me in 2 days but I know I’m doing this right so it hasn’t worried me at all or discouraged me.

The scale didn't move much for me during the liquid phase, but the morning of surgery when they weighed me, I lost 11 pounds! Don't let the scale discourage you...hang in there [emoji6]

Oof! 30g of protein a day? That would be killer. I have good energy for the first half of the day, but then I’m done lol. Thankfully I wasn’t drinking caffeine for a long time before this so I didn’t have to crave that too! I just have to keep a close eye on my BG levels so I don’t bottom out. I’ve quit the Victoza already, so that was great!
I’d love to start a support group where all of us may sleevers can check in with each other!

Optifast is medically supervised diet...... you can lose 50lbs in 6 months per their info. You have to buy it from a medical professional. Or I have noticed it on eBay. I didn’t think they were bad I did Water them down by blending with ice and coffee . I really liked the Tomato and the chicken soup... they were a nice savory option. Of the bars I only like the Peanut Butter bar

How can we make a support group happen? Truthfully, I’m on Facebook more than here— can we start a secret group where we can check in on each other? Anyone up for it? If so, I’d be happy to look into it.

Also, the head cravings are still so real. I took my DD to a birthday party today and the smell of pizza almost pushed me over the edge (and I’m not even a huge pizza person). But I just kept drinking my protein Water and pushed through. Is it too early to have NSV?? 😂😂😂

Yes! If you want to set up a private group, I’ll definitely join. I’m not n here a lot now, and I definitely enjoy talking to everyone, but I’d particularly like to have a May 2018 WLS Page where we can all stay connected. It’s so easy to lose track of people on here simple because so many posts and threads and convos are happening. Not to mention my “was I talking to this person in the pre-op section or the sleeve section?” problems. [emoji23]
So personally I’d love a FB page

Day 7 [emoji847][emoji847] last night I went to bed thinking I should have dumplings and sushi one last time because I may not tolerate it after surgery and never be able to eat it again.. that’s definitely the devils voice [emoji23]

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
