The GOOD thing is I gave a bunch of clothes away this morning -- and it was more than I thought it would be.

I'm saving nice/work clothes for eBay, but I got rid of all my spandex-laden workout/exercise/lounge around pants and tee shirts. My mom hated that I wore printed tees, so they all went bye-bye (except for those that weren't in great shape and I can use for painting or other work around the house). Three kitchen garbage bags full. Wow, did it empty out my drawers and free up some others in the spare bedroom!

Yay Beth!! I am also happy you got rid of your printed tees! I have bags and bags of clothes to sell on eBay too!

stress has turned my band into the devil.

i can't eat a damn thing, aside from living off of starbucks vivannos & my local mexican joints tortialla Soup.< /p>

DH's best friend got diagnosed 2wks ago w/bone marrow cancer & leukemia - he is married to my BF. we are both childless couples and do just about everything / holiday together.

managing BF's emotional breakdown has me in caretaker mode - cooking / managing their house / dogs etc....that i can't get much down.

side note - down 7.3lbs - but i don't need to be that low.

spent a spa day today - and have a muscle milk in hand ... guess an unfill is really in order.

I am so sorry for your friend! Take care of yourself, it is difficult being a caregiver. I have taken care of two cancer patients. My girlfriend had ovarian cancer and my sister with breast cancer.

My band is also very tight and I suspect it is due to stress. I am not going to get an unfill since I can still get water/liquids down easily. I talked to my dr. and I am going to wait it out.

Got home from site yesterday afternoon and had a wonderful evening with my man...:frown: I am so in love it makes me want to cry sometimes :welldone2:

And what a day I have lined up for today!! I have a job interview at 9:30am (based in Perth so no more FlyIn/FlyOut to Argyle each week). I go to the salon for waxing (legs, armpits, brazillian) at 11am so I won't be all hairy on the beach at Broome, and my favourite designer is having a 70% off sale starting today, so I HAVE to go or I'll miss out! We're going to try to squeeze that in on the way to the airport at 2pm, then off to Broome at 3!

I don't know if you folk have heard of Ruth Tarvydas but she had 3 dresses worn on the red carpet at the Academy Awards this year, and is pretty well known. She started in Perth about 30 years ago and I bought my first ever designer original from her shop - wore it to death for the next 10 years. I want another dress like that!!

Man, I'm going to be knackered tonight!

Good Luck with the job interview!!

A brazillian - you are very brave!!!

I'm still exhausted from the weekend! Gettin' too old for so much fun?! Naaaaa! LOL!

No Way!!

thanks ya'll - it's nice to come here, let it out ... then hit real life and feel strong enough to handle.

*prognosis is - bone marrow screening of his siblings first, that is happening today. apparently male to male is the best fit. if no match off to the bank, which he was told was also in his favor being of irish/german decent. i'm getting a learning lesson of what nationalities are lacking marrow in the banks.

*my BF, needs to get it together. her hubby told DH last night that he can handle - but not her breaking down. i'm dragging her to a spin class today so the boys can do hospital time.

*for those on FB - she's the blondie in my avtr pic to the right of me...thanks for your thoughts.

plain, i can handle a pinch about now:) and your not too far away:!:

PJTP...

Lulu - you, your friends and family are all in my prayers. Hang in there...and definately get a little unfill so you can keep your strength up. They need you - and YOU need you!

Beth - Congrats on cleaning out the closet! You are going to have such FUN re-filling the closet...I've gotta do the same thing over the next few weeks. I've got a bunch of stuff to put on EBay as well...or I may piggyback on my neighbor's yard sale and put some of my stuff out on the weekend she does hers...

Fanny - your trip sounds wonderful (the Brazilian - not so much ) you brave girl you...have a wonderful time! I smiled at your note about being in love...ain't it great! :welldone2:

Kat - take care of yourself as well - it's so hard when people we know are going through tough illnesses. Prayers all around!

Found out one of the jobs I was going for was cancelled, haven't heard yet about the other two, but one has closed to applications, so I hope I'll hear something soon. Applied for 3 more yesterday - it's so easy to do with the online process...

Boss is due back from business trip tomorrow morning - I'm not exactly looking forward to it. Waiting for a meeting to be scheduled to discuss my answer to their recent reprimand...it's not going to be fun, and I really wish I didn't have to do this, but I'm not going to be run over and left on the side of the road - you put my back against a wall, and I'm ready to fight. :frown:

Band support group tomorrow night in New Haven - looking forward to it so I can catch up with my other band buddies. Some of them are here on LBT, most are not - not sure why...you guys are the greatest!

First of all... LULU- Omg you're my girl and I feel so horrible. I just went through something very traumatic too with my mom so I know how you feel. Find me anytime you need to talk. I have seen people beat it so just hang in there. You're a very fun supportive person they are very lucky to have you.

On a side note... Does anyone know of a good resume program? LOL I want to write a new resume for me and my DH but I can't seem to find one with good templates.

Hi Brandy!

I've used Word and the associated templates to do my resume recently - I do like it. A google search on 'resume template' brings up a ton of different types, most of which are probably compatible with Word.

Good luck!:frown:

Gotcha. Thanks for the fill-in. I'm always tempted to ask who people are in your pics, but usually restrain myself. I do occasionally exercise self-restraint...

Lu, you're going to have to sit down and have a serious talk with your BF. She has GOT to pull it together. It's all about her DH right now, not her. I realize she's devastated, I would be too BUT she's got to focus on DH and his health and welfare. Nothing else matters at this point. My FIL is in remission now from a rare form of Leukemia. He was doing great until his recent diagnosis of Parkinson's. He's 70 now.

Whether she likes it or not, she is now a cancer caregiver. I'd encourage her to contact the American Cancer Society {I think at cancer.org} to find a support group near her.

Best wishes and lots of prayers to all of you! AND you are a GREAT friend!!! Hang in there. And vent all ya need! We're here for you!

Bummer about the one job, prayers something else comes thru soon!

Major bummer that the boss is back in town! Too bad she didn't decide to stay away!! LOL!!

Last time I did DH's resume I'm pretty sure I did a Word template. It's saved now and all I have to do is add the recent stuff.

I do occasionally exercise self-restraint...

NO! Really??!! I would have NEVER known!

Beautiful day today! Really cool. Supposed to be 70 for the high by Friday. They're talking rain by the weekend and snow in the higher elevations just above us! Welcome to June! LOL!

Got the garden planted today. Not a big garden and it's a container garden til we know if it's going to stay there or not. I've got eggplant and artichoke, which I've never grown. Tomato and squash. I may go back and get a bell pepper plant. We're really not doing huge yet until we know for sure where the garden is going! Permanent garden will be raised beds with a nice fence. Right now I'm using our dog kennel fencing. Should keep the deer out... I hope!

Last year they broke thru my fencing and ate our little garden just as everything was getting ready to be picked! I had an old clawfoot tub full of veggies and the deer had a veggie buffet!

Have a great night!

Ebony - good luck on the jobs; fingers crossed for you!

And be polite but resolute in your meeting; focus on the issue, not the personality of the hateful boss, and don't let 'em get you down!

Sounds like a nice garden...I've never grown artichoke either. I'm trying pumpkin this year...the greenery will fill in lots of bare space in the garden until I can get perennials in the fall.

And deer need to eat too!!

Morning all! It is possibly not going to rain today - whoo hoo!! It has rained all (or most of) everyday for the past week...

Gotta get my rear in gear - am not fully prepared for my meeting in 2 hours, so gotta finish a slide deck, and prepare some speakers notes. Catch you later.....

Morning all.

congrats MS

I am having some problems. Nothing new I know. Quick synopsis. I have been working for a temp agency in school cafeterias. Sporadic at best, but still work. The last day I worked I must have done something to my back. The following morning I got up and my back was killing me. At first I thought I slept wrong, then I thought no I was doing a lot of heavy lifting by myself at the school the day before. Fast forward 2 weeks. Lots of pain, hardly able to sleep. I woke up this morning (after taking Benedryl for allergies) could barely shower and dress. Right arm keeps going numb. Going to the ER after bank opens up so I can pull my last few dollars. You have to pay for parking at the ER. $2.00. I don't think that is right, but oh well. I can't afford this right now. What if someone calls me for a job? I can't say I'm sorry but...I have to be job hunting, not recuperating from an injury. Everything is going to be shut off next week. I am now 4 months behind on mortgage. I NEED A JOB! It's scarring me that what if I need surgery or something? My arm going numb is really concerning me.

So sorry for carring on. Just keep me in your prayers.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
