Homemade broths

My surgeon’s 2 week liquid pre-op diet is a little stricter than others I read on this and other sites. Optifast shakes (and possibly bars) and broths only. And that’s it. Hopefully black coffee and unsweetened tea will also be okay, but I guess I’ll see.
Canned broths are yuck, am I right?! And usually come with more sodium than necessary. So in the next 4 months until my surgery I’m going to be making several stocks / broths in my pressure cooker. This weekend I grabbed a frozen turkey and cooked it, then took the carcass and made turkey broth to freeze. Also planning to put bone in beef roasts on the menu and rotisserie chickens for stocks as well.
I can’t say I’m looking forward to the broth filled weeks but this will certainly make it more palatable!

When cooking the bones in broth add 1-2tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. This helps release the bone marrow and takes awesome too. Instead of having broth wi 1 gram if protein it naturally creates 8 grams of protein to 1 cup. Checks out the Gaps diet easy recipes for all different broths for our clear liquid phase
