Is there a difference in the hospital stays with those who have the hernia repair with the sleeve, versus just the sleeve?

How bad was your hernia if I may ask? I have 3 and one is rather larger grapefruit sized. Just curious.

Mine was also hiatal hernia and went in 12/19 and release 12/20. Have any of you had any complications? I don’t know if it’s from the hernia or not. But I feel like heartburn or acid reflux , something I’ve NEVER had before. [emoji30]

Call your doctor. Doc needs to know what’s going on with you. I’ve heard lots of people have same experience.

I was sleeved 1/9/17 and I wound up in the hospital in August and had emergency hernia surgery. Spent 5 days in the hospital and I just found a tiny hernia on my belly button.

Thats scary. I have one the size of a large grapefruit. I see the surgeon Wednesday so I'm sure I'll have it addressed. But I figure I'm gonna need a more extensive surgery and a lengthy hospital stay. I just wanna be prepared. It' be great if it was an easy fix.

I honestly never asked. I had a hiatal hernia and ulcers and suffered from heart burn and nausea every day before surgery even when I wasn't eating anything. It was really bad. Since surgery, I hadn't experienced heartburn til this month and I'm 6 months post op. I'm really grateful I did the repair.

I had a type 2 hiatial hernia. Stayed overnight. No extra pain, no problems, except my PCP can still hear it. She said they can't 100 % get rid of it, but I no longer have symptoms and have lost 36 pounds.

My wife had sleeve surgery with very large abdominal hernia repair and she was in 5 days total but she had gotten a uti. She would have been in 3 days if not for that. They ended up taking about 3 feet of intestine out of the hernia.

I was out the next day, however, mine ruptured in the same spot and they found it again at the same time I was having my gall bladder surgery. My doctor repaired it by attaching it to my diaphragm to try to keep it from rupturing again. That surgery for me was extremely painful. I wound up back in the ER because of severe chest and stomach pains. Turns out it was a massive amount of gas lol. However, after the second surgery I had. Hard time getting food to go down because of how tight and where the repair was done.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
