It's lose not loose (smh)

Okay I don't post much but I read ALOT. And something has been really really irritating me. After seeing this grammatical error more times then I can count I just can't take it anymore! ! I understand it's not that important to some people but honestly there's a huge difference between lose and loose. Lose means you lost something (weight etc.). Loose means that's something doesn't fit anymore( loose skin, loose clothing, etc). Thank you and that is all. [emoji51]

Funny how you just make innocent typos and everyone else is a grammar idiot.

I died. That's so funny

Lol never said anyone was an idiot and never attacked anyone personally. Please go back to the original post and read it again. I was annoyed with the word loose used as lose and said they are different. Never made fun of anyone and didn't attack anyone. Also using loose instead of lose is NOT an innocent typo...you either know the difference or you don't. Just like I didn't know enough to use a lot instead. See? I learned something today too. I am NOT attacking anyone's learning capabilities...so stop making me sound like I'm evil. I'm not even close to that adjective. Excuse me for defending myself. Everyone can defend themselves without being a d**k to others.

She isn't making you sound anyway . That's actually how your coming across. Take it as feedback. Your delivery needs working on.

Please contact us if you do not understand any of the rules, guidelines or policies outlined below.

Disrespectful and Hurtful Posts are Forbidden

All posts must fit within BariatricPal’s guidelines for acceptable posts. Posts must be consistent with BariatricPal’s core beliefs.

  • Weight loss surgery can be an effective tool to fight obesity.
  • Our common goal is to fight obesity through a unified voice.
  • No weight loss surgery is inherently better or worse than any other. Each has advantages, and each has disadvantages.

Some individuals are good candidates for one kind of surgery, and other individuals are better candidates for another kind of surgery.

  • No individual is more or less deserving of weight loss and health because of a decision to get or not get weight loss surgery, or because of which type of weight loss surgery he or she chooses.
  • BariatricPal serves as a place where anyone can ask questions about weight loss surgery without fear of ridicule.
  • BariatricPal serves as a forum for open discussion and polite disagreement so that everyone can benefit.

Weight loss surgery “bashing” is absolutely prohibited. This include, but is not limited to, statements that a specific type of weight loss surgery is:

  • Bad or wrong
  • Easier than another type of weight loss surgery or “cheating” when someone is trying to lose weight
  • Out of date or obsolete
  • Doomed to failure

In addition, “bashing” of individuals is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, statements that a person is:

  • Lazy for choosing one type of weight loss surgery over another
  • Unprepared for or undeserving of weight loss surgery because of
  • Deserving of complications or disappointing weight loss because of their choice of weight loss surgery

Violations of these rules and consequences will be determined at the sole discretion of BariatricPal and based on individual situations. They may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Editing or removal of the offensive post(s)
  • Warning from BariatricPal staff or Forum Hosts to avoid such posts in the future
  • Temporary suspension of membership
  • Permanent removal of the member’s account

These guidelines do NOT forbid disagreement and candid discussions on BariatricPal. Members may discuss and defend their points of view in respectful manners. Please feel free to contact BariatricPal with any questions about these guidelines.

Remember that written communication is different from face-to-face communication. When you post a message on the discussion forum, send someone a text message, email, or private message, or meet in a chat room, a lot of the message is lost. When you are face-to-face with someone, you can use tone of voice, gestures, and expressions to help get your point across. These aids are lost when you communicate online. Your message can accidentally come across as harsh or rude. A good way to reduce accidental misunderstandings is to read your own message before posting it to see if there is any way that a reader could mistake its meaning in a negative way.

Additional BariatricPal Posting Guidelines

  1. Be polite. Rudeness is not tolerated and can lead to post removal or account suspension.
  2. All members have the right to express their opinions and are encouraged to do so while maintaining a courteous tone.
  3. Posts that are forbidden include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Rude posts
    • Obscenity, pornography and profanity. The following are examples of unacceptable content in photos:
      • nudity
      • underwear, thongs, g-strings, or banana hammocks
      • excessive cleavage
      • close-up shots of cleavage, butt, breasts or crotch in any state of dress
      • hateful or violent imagery
      • images containing profanity.
    • Any abuse towards our staff and/or management in any form
    • Posts that contain derogatory references to sex, gender, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation, or endorsement of violence against any person or group, even if couched in humor.
    • Don’t break the law
    • Don’t use others’ experiences as medical advice.
    • Do not use the forums to share private contact information, such as telephone numbers, email addresses, mailing address, instant messenger IDs, etc.
  4. BariatricPal forbids commercial activity on the forums.
    • No advertising, self-promotion, fund-raising, direct marketing or selling on the forums.
    • You may not post any links or mentions of other services, websites, or businesses from which you or an associate might benefit financially or otherwise. You also may not solicit off-Forum contact from which you might benefit. Examples of forbidden activity include "Message me for more info" and "I can get you free samples."
    • Members may use their signatures to indicate a commercial affiliation by including a single link to a web site of their choice, with no more than one line of explanation in addition. This signature text is not to exceed the default font size of forum posts (size=2).
    • Requests or solicitations for donations are prohibited. This includes requesting contributions to "pooled fund" competitions, requests for votes in any venue (e.g., online contests) and requests for charitable contributions.
  5. Recommendations or reviews of surgeons, hospitals and other bariatric products and services are welcome only if based on the reviewer's personal experience. The reviewer must have no financial interest in the subject being reviewed. Violations will result in the posts being removed and a possible permanent ban of membership.
  6. BariatricPal allows one account per member and one member per account. If you are unable to log in, please contact us.
  7. Cross-posting is prohibited on BariatricPal. Cross-posting refers to posting new duplicate threads or posts, or the linking to threads or posts already started by the member with the intention of gaining exposure. • Please note that this is NOT a guideline against inadvertently posting a question another member has asked before. We explicitly allow members to post questions that have been asked previously by other members. If you see a member post a topic that you think has been asked before by another member, please respond politely or simply move on. However, the same member cannot ask the same question or post the same topic more than once.

I am in shock at how pissed off everyone is. I swear I meant it in good fun...but it just made people maaad. Thanks anyway. At least there are some people who get my humour and intent.

No ones mad. It's more the sort of eye rolling when a drunk is rude at the bar. No ones angry . People just find the petty Ness pathetic. And just not funny. Don't flatter yourself that people are so in invested that they are mad lol.

Ok, so let me explain what bothered me so much about your original rant.
1. There are people here who are so concerned with privacy, they won't speak up on the boards and ask questions.
2. There are others who may fear speaking, because they either don't spell well, or have poor grammar, or speak English as their second language--so they don't ask questions.
3. This is a support board, yet your OP was not light hearted. It didn't read that way from my perspective. So all I could think of is dayum...think of all the poor peeps who won't speak up cuz another one of these threads made it to the boards. (There are people that reticent to post.)
4. It's shaming. And we're a support board. So why the need to shame?
5. It's a rant. Put it in the dadgum rant section so I have something good to read over coffee tomorrow morning! Always the same! Nothin new in the rant section.
6. Then you acted all prissy and no where did I get your humor or intent until you proclaimed it in the last couple of pages...too late.

Your not the only one who felt that way though so it's not your prospective out of wack. I read it the same. English is not alot of people's first language either. We are all doing what we can.

No one on here has a disability they are just lazy ? Because one person said they didn't ? I have never come across someone so ignorant in my life. Now I know for sure your joking. Wow.. I think your the troll because no one can make such a stupid comment. I'm not even coming back to read your replies. So I will let you reply to yourself. That's just too far. I know many people on here with disabilities that can influence how they type. And your comment is just disrespectful.

She just said no one on here has a disability they are just lazy. This is below the belt. And absolutely disgusting. I can't believe what is acceptable here. There are many of us here with disbalities. We are not lazy. That is a discriminate comment.

Whatever the word is!

This is a derogatory reference towards a group. I.e disabled.

Your very welcome. I can't see the reason why anyone would make such a post to bring people down .. she is obviously aware those who make those minor mistakes would read this comment and we all know the lows we can have after surgery .. no one wants to be laughed at. You were kind in your comment and your right the best thing is to just let them talk to themselves because some people you just can't get through to :)

Please do as you see fit. These women are twisting this post way out of proportion. I don't want to feed the fire. Yet I am bullied and called names such as bitchy judgemental troll etc. I have a right just as anyone on here to express what's on my mind and what bothers me. I called no one names and the post wasn't directed to anyone in particular. If the post rubbed people the wrong way, I can't help that they don't agree with my views. Again, delete this post or do whatever because I am being bullied for expressing my opinion. If noone agrees they can simply scroll on. It didn't have to go the way it has. And my comments after the fact are all responses to what they originally post. it's only natural that it gets nasty because I am human too! Thank you.

We all have our issues. That’s why we are here. Let’s just try to be inclusive. You said that you meant no harm with your post and I believe you. It’s just that sometimes we all may write things we think are innocent but to others they may be hurtful. I can’t count the times friends said things about their minimal weight issues in front of me not realizes I was crying inside. That’s all. Let’s move on and try to be mindful of our comments. We are all in this together! Namaste!

BTW it's "a lot" not "ALOT".
