TLBC Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

My clinic does not either - I believe if you are able to go to the clinic where you were banded all follow-up is free - including problems that happen with the band down the road. The secret of success to this procedure is the follow-up - I am very thankful for the personal attention I have received from my surgeon and his staff and collegues. I do believe that the majority of the Toronto clinics follow the same philosophy - it helps.

2. I'm not sure, but pretty certain that SWLC has free fills policy too, and they're highly regarded by their patients

3. I don't know what's wrong with Jen...but...wow

To confirm, yes, SWLC does have the free fill policy, up to 5 years post-op.

I really wish SWLC had similar programs, information sessions and support groups like TBLC... can I crash your meetings????

Hi

Can someone who has been banded with TLBC in Miss. tell me what you get for the 15-16k$ you pay. How many fills, how long of aftercare, what if problems happen such as slips, flipped ports etc. I am in the US right now & trying to qualify for insurance but I don't think it will happen & I am looking at all my options if I self-pay. I can't decide whether to go to Canada(I'm Canadian) & have it done or go to Mexico. I know Mexico is cheaper but I'm afraid if there's any problems I will get huge bills here in the US to fix it. The cost of health care here is scary even with insurance & if I self-pay with the band I'm afraid my insurance will deny other claims saying they are band-related. If I get it done in Canada I might feel a little safer.

Hi Marnie:

First of all TLBC is in Toronto and not Mississauga.

Their website is a wealth of information Laparoscopic Band Surgery (Lap / Stomach Band Weight Loss Surgery) - Toronto Laparoscopic Band Centre or you can have them send you a package by writing at info@tlbc.ca. Their phone number is 1 800 409 8151 and I'm sure they can answer any questions you may have. I was banded there and I strongly recommend it. Dr. Yau and all the staff there are fantastic!

Marnie the SWLC provides follow-up care, dietician consult, access to the surgeon and nurses both during business hours, and after. They will cover issues with the band for up to 5 years post-op. There are web-cast seminars as well. I have only been with the clinic since July and cannot say enough good things about the experience or support I have received from the surgeon. It is not unusual for him to drop into the clinic chat rooms just to see how we are doing. Their website is:

Marcar35 & Cindy D thanks alot for the websites, I appreciate the info & now I have some reading to do.

Good luck marnie723:

Although I'm partial to TLBC because of their post-op care and support, both clinics are great and you will not regret your decision. Good luck to you.

Hi,

I'm having my surgery tomorrow. Little bit nervous but very excited. Have only told a few friends. Is the weight loss rapid??? If so, how do I explain this to friend who I've not told my lap band???

Wish me luck tomorrow!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
