Starting my pre op "liquid" diet - Its not really all liquids

My surgery is scheduled for Dec 4th. I have my insurance approval. I'm feeling good.. except Thanksgiving is Thursday. I think I am one of the lucky ones because my surgeon's program doesn't put us on full liquids for two weeks before surgery. My diet goes like this:

Breakfast - protein shake ( I add my premiere protein to black coffee .. it's good)

snack - apple

Lunch- 300 cal or less frozen healthy meal. I went with the Healthy Choice Cafe steamers and a 1/2 cup of veggies

snack : more protein shake

Dinner: same as lunch 300 cal or less frozen healthy meal and half cup veggies.

Also I can have as much sugar free Popsicle and jello , broth, all the other "free" foods whenever

I was very surprised when they gave us the food list. I won't starve after all. I go clear liquids 2 days before surgery though ... no red jello haha

Thanksgiving won't be so bad because I can just eat my little frozen meal instead and not sit there glaring at people with liquids.

Right after I started this topic I broke my foot ...ouchies! So even though I had "real food" with the lean cuisine's it has been rough getting the energy to lug my body around on crutches with so much less calories than usual. I am so looking forward to Monday which is surgery day. You guys can make these last few days !! Hopefully we won't be hungry after surgery. I hope everything goes smoothly with everyone's surgery and everyone has a safe and fast recovery!!

@Frankette thanks so much for the encouragement. Hope all goes well for you. Actually my hunger has decreased, three more days to go. They say that after surgery the hunger hormone is gone, I hope this is true. ?

My surgery is also December 5th. I cheated, but felt guilty. But today is a new day. I will do this, I can do this. Also nervous about post op.

It's ok. I cheated too. I felt guilty as well and stayed on track afterwards. My surgery is Monday December 4 th. I'm very strict now. Let's stay in touch.

@SuzyQutie most definitely. How is it going? We on home stretch now. I will keep in touch.

Oh my, I would love have loved a lean cuisine at the beginning. My diet consists of 3 protein shakes per day, up to 2 "snacks" (like 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt or 1/2 cup low fat cream soup, 1/2 cup no-sugar-added applesauce, or, if I'm feeling particularly famished, 4 oz pure fruit juice), and unlimited sugar-free, zero-calorie liquids (like crystal light, broth, Propel Zero, etc.). I go to clear liquids the whole day before surgery, and then on the day of surgery just water from midnight to 7am (my surgery is at 11am). So far I'm surviving. When I remember to have my 3 protein shakes per day, and space them out at regular intervals, as well as take advantage of the two snacks per day (yogurt is the most filling) my hunger is much better controlled.
