Hi everyone, I'm new to this platform. I'm scheduled Nov 13 and on Monday, October 30 I'm starting my 2 week preop diet. My nutritionist told me to have 5-6 premier shakes and 1 cup of veggies (no oil,or butter ). Was it the same for you guys? And also what did you guys packed for your post op surgery? What do i need to get ready ?

Hi Zoxie! Congrats on your surgery date!!! I'm still pre op but my diet will be 5 Protein Shakes and Water that's it. One thing I've read on here is to take an extension cord for your charger and biotene for dry mouth and feminine products just in case.
Best of luck on your journey!!!

I could consume 800-850 calories in shakes total 80gr Protein, plus any broth, crystal light, sf Jello, sf popsicles. I drank ready-made Premier, ready-made Isopure, Jay Robb packets - dreamsicle is my fav, Syntax nectar.

Hospital - phone/charger, biotene spray, lip balm, slippers, robe, my own tea bags, hair brush, headband, and toiletries, and novel to read. I wore my same clothes home that I came in (leisure bra because it won't rub incisions.). My own pillow and lap quilt - was just to quell my nerves.

Hi Zoxie and Angy,

I am new to the forum and have surgery scheduled for 11/17. My preop diet will be Clear Liquids and Protein Shakes for two weeks. I am doing a trial run this weekend before my edg. I have a demanding schedule as I am sure most do, so I am also trying bariatric products I ordered from Bariatric Pal and Amazon. I can’t do whey Protein, so I am doing Bariatric Choice Liquid Protein, Bariatric Advantage protein Gelatin, Gene Pro flavorless protein, broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, apple juice, and Water to keep my energy level up. I have also ordered B12 Patches for preop to go along with Multivitamin patches for post op. Naps help. I also read and saw on YouTube to take lip balm to the hospital. My hospital allows GasX strips or melts.

Good luck to all! I hope we find great success and an easy recovery.

liquid diet was similar. Did not use anything I packed except deodorant, toothbrush, and toothpaste. Slept most of the time I was in the hospital.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
