Banded on the 15th..and I'm in SO much PAIN

Hey everyone!

I was banded on the 15th, and I'm still feeling so much pain, especially in my port site! I can't laugh, cough and barely sit up without feeling immense pain...and don't even get me started on my back pain! I've been taking my pain killers as directed...but is there anything else I can do? I am supposed to go back to work on Monday, but I don't know if I will be able to. Anybody else experience similar pains?

Dozy, I love this response. We are very close in age and weight. I keep reading what you posted because there is so much truth in it. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow and banding is 13 days away. I hope all is well with you. Thank you for the words you posted. I hope it has helped others as well.

Hi Ann,

I sort of measure what I eat, one serve is about 1/4 cup. So I would have 3 serves vegetables plus 40-50grams of protein (in my case tofu, fish etc. cause I'm vegetarian).

Yes, losing Steve Irwin was awful. He was terrific. It just shouldn't have happened.

Let us know how you go following banding!

Jenny

Hi Jenny,

Wow you have seen more here in the states then I have! Someday when I get move around easily I would love to do a road trip across country. First need to lose this weight then need to have both knees replaced...THEN I will be able to do that. We have been to CA a few times and pretty much everywhere on the east coast. When we do travel far we LOVE the Caribbean, I just love to snorkel. We would also love to visit Australia, but sorry that Steve Irwin is gone. I would have LOVED to see him!

Do you measure what you eat? Do you know about how many ounces you are able to eat? I have been told that at most I will be able to eat is 3 oz. per meal if I am lucky. I am going to stick to that even if I feel I can eat more. I figure if I put myself through all this then I better stick to it and lose a LOT of weight!

Glad to hear you are doing well, I am sure then pounds will start droping soon! When is your next DR appointment?

Best Wishes,

I'm off to the caribbean this weekend. You have no problem snorkling? I mean that involves putting on a swimsuit! I would love to snorkle.

LOL cQQlgirl! Very funny :) Yes I put on a swim suit but it has a skirt AND most important I wear a pair of capris, well knee lenght pants with it. So the skirt hangs over the top of the pants to hide my "Sheila" as I call it. (my saggy lower belly like a kangaroo lmao!). And the pants hide my huge thighs! So yes I wear a suit with pants and swim that way too. I have not been to the Caribbean in 4 years. We went on a cruise for our 25th wedding anniversary. In Jan it will be our 30th! I didn't want to go anywhere until maybe next year when some of this weight will be GONE!

Have a wonderful time! Wow vacation 17 days after surgery. You go girl!

i have a liittle pain on my side like sort of in my rib area almost like i ran too much or something anyone else have this problem im 3 weeks out of surgery its sort of weird! not super painful but uncomfortable!

Yes Ann, I thought it was great you snorkel. I would be too embarrassed to put on a swimsuit, or anything else!!

Next Dr appointment 12th November.

Jenny,

ou should try it! It's a wonderful thing! What I wear is like weraing a tank top with capris. I am not thrilled about it but it's the best i can do. nest summer will be better for us all!

How are you feeling? Hows the port feeling?

Best Wishes,

i was banded on wed oct 10th in monterrey mexico by dr zapada. i had a little pain the day following the surgery, other than that just soreness, was able to move around, actually flew home on the friday, walked out of the airport and drove home, just soreness when i would try to get out of bed or roll over, but other tahn that no pain, i took a total of 2 pain pills the day following the surgery and that was it

:DHi Ann,

Yes, we'll all be in our bikinis before long, won't we? The port site is still a bit sore, all other incisions are fine. I'm finding it frustrating trying to remember not to drink straight after meals etc., but it's just another new habit to learn I guess.

I haven't weighed myself, can't see any weight loss yet except my face feels a bit thinner. I still feel a bit bloated - don't know if it's the surgery or just my fat!!!

Not long now till yours. You'll be glad when it's over. Will be thinking of you on the 6th (which will be the 7th here!!!). :)

Good luck, Jenny

Thats great Rest hope I am as lucky as well!

Now Jenny I am SURE its not "just fat" silly! I have heard of other people feeling that way after this surgery. Can't wait to hear how you do. Did you go one week after your surgery just for the incision check?

As for Bikini...LOL, I figure I am going to have so many extra flaps hanging every where that I am going to need big stuff to hide them all until I can afford to get them choped off! LMAO!

We are going to our sons house in NJ today trying to get the weekend to fly by, Monday is going to be the LONGEST day of my life I bet, but it will all be worth it in the end.

Thanks!

Hi there!

Those of you who just had the lapband surgery would benefit from buying some Gas-X. It really cut down on the amount of pain I had!

I hope the pain passes for all of you soon!

I am scheduled for surgery Nov. 30 and have read about getting hungry, and was wondering if it is ok to take diet pills for hunger until you are allowed mushies? Has anyone else tried this?

I had my band placed on Thu Nov 1st. And I am in quite pain - specially from the port side. But this is doable. The worse HORRIBLE pain is in my shoulder and that is really killing me! Anybody know how to deal with it?

From what I've read here, it is gas and some people take Gas-X (something along those lines). I was banded the same day as you but haven't experienced much gas... not sure if I did in my back or whether it was just from the hospital bed because it is fine now. I hope these pains ease up soon.

Massage and heat have helped me. Mine is in the front so I massage it myself and then I use a heating pad on it.
