I enjoy a glass of wine.......

Recommended Posts

Love the occasional glass of wine! I have been reading all the post and have yet to find if there are any alcoholic restrictions. I am sure Beer and mixed drinks with sodas are not recomended because of the carbonation. Just curious as to what the "Norm" is for bandsters when it comes to social drinking.

I drink casually all the time beer, wine and otherwise. I have never had a problem.

So do I. And I have one when I feel like it.

obviously alcohol is empty calories to a degree and detrimental to strict dieting. But moderate wine consumption is actually GOOD for your health.

I was encouraged by my surgeon to have a glass of wine occasionally and not deprive myself - saying that you must live!!

I've been plateued(sp?) for a long time now, and last week was talking to the psych in my clinic. She said that when she was losing weight(she's banded too) she found that having a drink stalled her weight loss for about 3 days everytime. Even one drink. Well, I have been having a glass of wine a couple of times a week, not much because of the calories, so I've cut it out totally. And I am down a couple of pounds. So, that might be something to consider.

My doc says it's ok - his take on the carbination isn't that it streaches the band - but that it depletes your calcium..

I don't drink carbonated alcohol, and I count it in my daily calories, but once in a while I have a drink. Normally wine or white russian (CALORIES!!)..those are casino days when I'm not planning to eat anyway.

Appreciate all the input! We have a lot of family get togethers and living in Austin my husband and I are always meeting friends to catch some live music. I could say no to the glass of wine if I had to but concerts are so much more fun when you can have a couple glasses of wine:eyebrows: and sometimes you need that little extra something to put up with family at those gatherings, JUST KIDDING!

I experience the same thing. If I have so much as one glass of wine it's a promise I won't lose for that week.

I don't mind giving up the carbonation: beer, Cokes, etc. But I DO really like dirty martinis. And I don't seem to have any problem downing a couple of those now and then. But two is my limit.

So it's not just her then? Good - then I have some hope. I like wine and a drink, but not enough to stall my loss over.

The only time one glass of wine keeps me from losing for a week is when I couple that glass of wine with lasagna or Tex-Mex.

LOL-yeah a drink or two does tend to make me focus less on what I'm eating.:hungry: And I end up eating more.

But I'm ready to go again on this journey, and am looking for everything I can improve.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
