My first official R&R...Bandsters who dont know a damn thing about banding

I am new here so this topic may have come up before. But one of the frustrating things for me on any band forum (or in real life) is lap band recipients who seemingly know nothing about this piece of silicone that they had implanted in their bodies. I am not talking about the newbies who are trying to educate themselves. I am talking about ignorant individuals who know nothing months out of surgery. The band slip rate has gone up and so has erosion rates....(not to mention revision surgeries)....do you think maybe its because of some people refusing to learn how to live with their bands? There are legitimate reasons some have band complications that are beyond their control...but I wonder how many end up with problems because they are simply tuned out and in denial that they are responsible for their success. What started this rant is an individual on another forum who is doing something dangerous daily and when we all post that she should stop she says her doctor knows what she is doing and we are all liars, because we must do it too. Thats as specific as I am going to be...I have decided to pass all those threads by from now on....if they want to screw up their bands thats their choice.

Ohh and PB & VOMIT.

I have experienced so many levels of a PB.. sometimes it is a 'productive burp'.. sometimes it's just sliming and me choking the slime out.. and sometimes it is vomit-ous.

So I call it PB most of the time since that's the 'lingo', but it's normally not as non-eventful as an actual PB. I like BandBarf :)

OMG I have heard that so often - are people totally nuts???? I have a one inch scar and what looks like freckles or moles, and heck I show them to anyone who wants to see. I was never fond of showing off my FAT BELLY.

I've come to the point that I get really honest with these people. I tell them they need to sit down and seriously consider if they want a band or not.

I seriously question if someone else is pushing them into a surgery they don't want or what the deal is. If someone is pushing them into a band and they don't want it, they shouldn't be getting the band. If they are coming up with reasons such as that then to ME it sounds like they either don't want it or simply aren't ready. And that's okay! Each person needs to decide for themselves if this is right or not. But worried about small incisions or extra skin and not wanting to lose weight because of that... I point blank suggest they seriously consider what they are doing.

A first time poster-newbie came on and said that maybe they put it on the inside, and she's "tasting the band". WTH? I truly hope that was supposed to be a joke, but sadly, I'd bet the farm it wasn't.

HAHAHAHA!!!!! I've seen people swear they have no band because they have no restriction, I've seen most every newbie question if their band has slipped or eroded, let's face it, we've all seen most everything but I have never seen that one! Priceless!

What did it taste like?

Like shit, I guess, there was also a reference made to diarrhea, too. I didn't get that, either, so I didn't include it in my post here.... HAHAHA

Dang, and to think I didn't get that with my band. I feel so... cheated!

You guys obviously missed the vag band post on the other forum ..where the gal seriously wanted to know if they installed the band through her vagina? That post had like the most replies and views of any post ever. It made me ashamed to have a vagina actually....

I remember that one. She claimed that's how her friend's band was placed, vaginally. Oy veh....

You have GOT to be kidding me?!

To the note about this being a support forum; of course it is, but at the same time... I think we're all just a little floored by the amount of people who seem to be making such a huge decision with so little knowledge going into it. And what gets me, is that lots of people go into all of their major decisions this way...

That was the best thread ever!

Oooh, a bandgina. That sounds promising. I get this mental picture of all the bandsters' hubbies and boyfriends scrambling to get their girl's name on the fill wait list. You already have 8 fills this week! I don't care!

Do you think there could be such as thing as a bandgina that was too tight?

This thread reminds me so much of the "thread killer" thread. That was one hilarious thread.

As far as pb goes, I have pbed once. I burped and a little bit of food came up with the burp. The rest of the times, it's all out puking.

I like band barfing better though.

i still think the classic "i just got banded yesterday, but i like, just ate like a whole chicken. will i like be ok?"

there are tons other examples in the thread called thread killers ...

A recent comment from a new bandster:

"Emotionally I'm at a place where I don't care if I throw up solid food and can only do liquids, as long as the scale moves in the right direction I'm happy. "

I just don't get it.
