Wasa: I came and read...and you are right its therapuetic. Its hard to convey on this board the toxicity and outright rage that a group of DSers on OH have towards all other WLS. It got so bad that OH had to give us bandsters a private forum so you wouldnt be attacked. It was so disgusting to see someone post and say they were in bandster hell or ask if they needed a fill and have that group come on and tell them they were F-ing morons and total idiots for getting the lap band in the first place. They would provoke with threads saying 7 out of 10 bands fail etc. Newbies were confused and the DSers could never be reasoned with. I love how they continually deny the stink problem. They can deny it all they want every doctor I have ever talked to says that is a real problem and actually is a reason to NOT get the surgery if you have better options. In my mind almost every other main stream WLS is better. I dont go to R&R on OH because its not a healthy debate its this group of DSers that are so into their propaganda they are delusional.

Yes I am "for real". I cant believe people disagree with stuff they admit to doing no research on. Your daughter's wiccan/pagan beliefs are not my concern. I am talking about in century's past. This is high school history..not even college where they definitely support my view and elaborate on it quite a bit. Most of the nations that surrounded the Israelites in biblical times were PAGAN. There customs varied, but some of those customs were child sacrifice and sex orgies. I dont know what people who live now and choose to call themselves Pagan's practice. Nor do I care. I stand by my original comments on the subject of this thread. As far as defending myself against "out of the blue" or (midnight blue) who has admitted to trolling .....who cares what her character judgments are? If she has to hide and name call from her hole in the ground...well there must be a reason. If you disagree then disagree like an adult on the subject of the thread. Resorting to character assassination of people who hadnt even commented on the thread shows "midnight troll" has an agenda not even relating to the subject.

Well thats interesting about declaring yourself a modern day pagan. Any encyclopedia or history book will tell you what Pagans did through out history. Infact, most of my knowledge comes from history class.

There are Christians who dont celebrate Christmas because of its origins. Its common knowledge Christ did not institute the practice nor did his apostles or members of the first century congregation. Pagans were the people (simplistically) that practiced sex orgies and threw their kids into the fire to sacrifice to false gods. Constantine in the 4th century wanted to unite his kindgom thus a melding of Christian and pagan beliefs. Some Christians feel that anything that was unclean at one time...i.e. pagan practices will not be made clean by calling it Christian. December 25, was the date chosen for pagan reasons. Any encyclopedia will read that Christ couldnt possibly have been born that day. Santa Claus, the tree, yule logs, lights, presents given to each other, etc. all have pagan origins.

What about the people that will get a WLS on Medicare or Medicaid and will not be successful because they dont follow the guidelines? I have met many lap band recipients who had insurance coverage and therefore paid little out of pocket who would not be considered a success by Inamed because they lost only a small percentage if any excess weight.

I actually had a twist on this tonight at a chinese restaurant. (picture the chinese accent on the english words..lol)The chinese gal that took my take out order said, "How you beeeen?" I said, "fine". She said,"You lost weight". I said, "yes, some". She said, "No, you lost lot of weight". And then she gave me a dirty look for trying to deny that I had lost a lot of weight. Sheesh! I guess modesty doesnt cross the culture barrier...or she wanted me to admit that I used to be really fat? not sure which?

Strictly speaking of spanking done in the proper way in view to discipling the child, I am for that kind of corporal punishment when it is necessary. If a parent cannot or does not know how to keep themselves under control when using corporal punishment then they shouldnt use it EVER. Sometimes as parents we have to get creative with discipline and not just resort to a swat on the butt because we can. My daughter is like me and would rather take a spanking than sit in her room for awhile with no extra sensory stimulation allowed. (like playing with toys or whatever) The Dr. Spock generations are among us...even worse today than ever before. These are children of parents that were told not to spank or discipline their children. Because of this and just generally lazy and neglectful parents or the parents that want to be "friends with their children", we have more dysfunctional, amoral, confused, unambitious, spoiled rotten, cant-keep-a-job, or stay-off-drug type individuals among us than ever before in human history. (or living at home in their 30's and 40's because life is to hard on their own and nobody does your laundry in the real world types). If parents dont properly use discipline..(and many dont)...their children never learn structure or have a sense of accomplishment or understand the consequences of negative behavior. Usually these are the ones on Dr. Phil blaming everyone else they have ever met in their life for the 50 affairs they had on their wife, or not providing for their families because jobs are just to hard to go to day after day. The government will reap the "rewards" of this inappropriate legislation of its citizens. So will society in general.

Thats true they probably cover the band then. I actually dont know how I feel about this issue. I am glad that some who maybe couldnt get weight loss surgery have access to it, but at the same time that means you have to be either poor (I am not actually sure if Medicaid covers it, but I think they do in some states) or over 65 to be covered. That leaves many hard working people who cant get it.

Just wondering what everyones thoughts are on this subject. I do have a friend who retired and is going to get bypass which will be covered by medicare. Her insurance wouldnt cover it while she was working.

We talked for a minute or two and they were shocked when I told them the hospital in Monterrey was cleaner and more high tec than the one in our town. Thats a common reaction that I get...everyone pictures third world conditions and so we must be getting operated on in a mud hut somewhere and the doc is using a bread bag twisty tie as a lap band.

M: I thought of you tonight..lol. We met with a couple who are looking to buy our business. Through my book keeper (who referred them to us) I found out that both of these people were banded locally. The banded husbands comment to my book Keeper was, "The gal you are telling me about went to Mexico? (meaning me) That is just crazy and irresponsible". I was still excited about meeting them because I dont know any locals that are banded. They come to the house and they are BOTH as overweight as any before pic. They have been banded 2 years. He wishes he would have got RNY. So they were two not so sterling U.S. examples...who complained about the aftercare they did not receive at their U.S. bariatric clinic. I felt bad for both of them (insurance paid for both of their surgeries) but I thought it was funny to be the one almost at goal (in a year) and be called irresponsible by them.

A lot of pure breds have specific health issues associated with that breed. For instance labs have a tendency to get hip problems etc. We have a pure bred...but its because they docked his tail to short and they didnt want him because he wasnt show quality. So we took him...his imperfection makes him even cuter. We always had mutts growing up and us kids didnt know the difference or love them any less.
