All done! Procedure at NY presperterian/Weill Cornell with dr Sharaiha. Went great. Arrived at 8a. Everyone super nice. Taken into room at 9:30 and then it’s over. Groggy coming out. Was in postop for about 3 hrs. No nausea just discomfort at first and gas pains that I felt around the stomach/back area. Came in waves but quickly dissipated. For some meds and we took a Lyft home to NJ. So far so good!

Just found out today that I'm tentatively scheduled for Monday, 11/20. Went through my pre-op today and have all my final appointments tomorrow afternoon. Kind of scrambling! Expecting a "liver shrinking diet" beginning tomorrow - advice welcome! Ordered a couple Protein Shake options on Amazon.

@beckyagain What all does your liver shrinking diet entail? I've found most differ a little from doctor to doctor. I am 8 days into my liver shrinking diet and have another six to go. I can have unlimited Protein Shakes, white meat (such as chicken, turkey, fish), low-fat cottage cheese and low-fat plain Greek yogurt and sugar free Water enhancers and sugar-free popsicles

I’m on day 6 of my 2 week liquid presurgical diet. I’m dying! If i was this disciplined I️ wouldn’t have gotten this fat. Im so hungry. I️ have headaches and cravings and think about food all damn day. How are you getting through this?

@marvirga I've had on and off caffeine headaches all week. I've almost given in a few times but I'm holding out. My husband and I are having surgery the same day so having him go through it with me too, has been helpful.

I’m amazed at some of these pre-op diets. My surgery is Nov 21. I’m on day two of my pre-op diet and it’s no fun! Mine requires three Premier Proteins, one yogurt, four cups lettuce, two tbl lite dressing. I can add broth and Jello. I’m not starving but boy oh boy do I want real food. How will I get through the next 12 days!?!

How about the nausea BabyFat23?

I don’t have any nausea either. I am just sore at the spot where he pulled my stomach through.

I got the nausea... but it didn't last long.. the gas pains in my chest was a PITA. I'm burping them up now. That spot where they took my stomach out hurts too, but I was told that was normal. I'm glad you did so well.

You're a rock star! Heading to Jefferson at 7am this morning, I'm the first surgery for my surgeon. So excited, can't wait to start this journey. Wish me luck!

Keep drinking! I am 8 days post op and i was back in the dr office yesterday getting 3 bags of fluids. I was extremely dehydrated! Not fun at all. My dehydration led to a severe gout attack in my knee and i cannot even get out of my chair or walk right now! Good luck to you. Glad u are doing well!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
