Eating after surgery

Recommended Posts

I’m in my 3rd week post op VSG and I could go all day without eating, I don’t feel hungry at all. I do eat the soft diet 3 times a day because I know I have to and I try to get the 64 oz of fluids in too. Does anyone else have this issue. It’s not a no appetite thing it’s just I don’t feel hungry.

I feel the same way!!! I was sleeved 8/22. Soft food but I barely get any food and it's kept me dehydrated at times.

I was like that until yesterday. Today I don't seem to feel full for long period of time.

I don’t feel bad at all, just not hungry. I’m still sore on my right side but I had a large hematoma on that side. When I am full I do start burping up food though.

I wish I didn't feel hungry all day. I'm 3 weeks out too. I eat a few spoonfuls. I could eat a bit more, but I don't. You probably was sleeved tighter than me. [emoji4]

I'm the same way. A few bites at a time throughout the day. It's weird because I feel like I have eaten way too much because sometimes I just eat 2 or 3 bites every couple of hours. It feels like I eat all the time on those days.

I am almost 4 weeks out and I am always hungry.
I was starving the day after surgery.
I guess everyone is different.
I have lost 23 pounds since surgery.

Great job! I weighed sometime last week and lost 21 lbs, I think. When does the stall happen? I'll be on the look out for that.

I have been going through that also, I had to set a reminder on my phone to eat, I am 4 months out, you have to eat, if not you won't get any nutrients, and your hair will fall out a lot.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
