teedsg got a reaction from summerseeker in Sleeve revision to SASI in January 2024Hey all! I had the sleeve in 2017 and never got to my goal weight and I had GERD. So fast forward to 2024 and had my sasi. All is well except now I can’t keep any food down. I’m having diarrhea several times a day for the past month. Any one else had issues like this? Oh and then I found out I have fatty liver. ???♀️?? scared! Smh -

teedsg got a reaction from Doris27 in January 2024 surgery buddiesI’m down 63 lbs since my January 9, 2024 surgery day. I’m at a plateau but steady progress. I went from sleeve to SASI. Best decision I made! Still can’t believe I wear a size 10/L pants. ? I need to work on strength training but overall I feel great.

teedsg reacted to Jim1967 in January 2024 surgery buddiesHello all, long-time member who has been away for a while. January 8th I am scheduled for a revision lapband to bypass. The band was successful for years and no doubt saved my life but it has run its course and the weight is going back on and the band is maxed out. -
teedsg reacted to Doris27 in January 2024 surgery buddiesWell done. Sounds like you’ve got it cracked. I’d have had the same reaction to a Dorito chomping husband.
My work is full of food. And I mean FULL. New Year will be even worse, and I’m on duty 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I will have the resolve to resist as it’s a long game but I shall be glad when it’s over.

teedsg reacted to NickelChip in January 2024 surgery buddiesIf it helps, remember that this is a completely different surgery than years ago. The reason the risk used to be so much higher was they had to cut you open, exposing you to all sorts of infection risks along with making it really traumatic for your body. Nowadays, they make tiny incisions and even use robotic assistance in some cases. The death rate for bypass is less than 1 in a thousand, and the sleeve is even less than that. Any other statistics are ancient history. It would be like comparing outcomes for diseases today to a time before we had antibiotics, chemotherapy, or insulin.

teedsg reacted to Miamigirl in Anyone else do a VSG to ESG?I’m in the same boat and want to know the same thing. I’ve had a consultation for ESG and resleeve. Is SASI a resleeve? It’s been over a year and I’m not sure what the best option is. I had an endoscopy and my pouch did stretch.

teedsg reacted to Forensikchic in Anyone else do a VSG to ESG?I want to get back to my original goal weight which is 135. Im 5'4" tall. I stayed between 130 and 135 for almost 7 years. I slowly gained over the past 5 years til I reached 182. On surgery day, I weighed 177. My starting weight from the very beginning was 235 so we are close in stats! I have about 30 pounds to go. I just started on regular food because my doctor put me on clears for 10 days instead of 2 days and 2 weeks for each stage after that. I have a little trouble getting all the water in but its helping me not to retain so much water. My body loves to store the water that I drink, if I dont get enough for it to decide I am not in a desert. lol. Good luck with whatever dicision you make. I am rooting for you to get to goal even if you dont have a revision. I am keeping my carbs low and protein high. They say I dont have a set goal for carbs but I try to keep it under about 40.

teedsg reacted to Forensikchic in Anyone else do a VSG to ESG?Hey! I just had the ESG last month after having a VSG 11 years ago. I had gained back 45 of the 110 pounds I lost in the last few years. Im loving it so far! restored my sleeve to its original size and shortened it. Its very cost effective and only one or two days of any discomfort. I never took a pain pill. I am down 20 pounds, 15 since day of surgery 5 weeks ago. I highly recommend it! I was very strict with the rules though and just got on regular food yesterday. I am a Physician Assistant in Neurosurgery so I work in healthcare and I do not recommend the bypass. I see lots of patients with almost 100 percent regain of weight and a lot of vomiting. Not everyone, but its something to consider. The anemia is another concern with the bypass.

teedsg reacted to Hop_Scotch in Anyone else do a VSG to ESG?I haven't had a revision to ESG but did have an original ESG (I now have a VSG). My personal opinon: I would think a bypass would have better longevity and outcome.
https://bmiclinic.com.au/endoscopic-sleeve-gastroplasty-faq/
ESG following gastric sleeve: Endoscopic revision of a gastric sleeve is possible, however the weight loss that results is only approximately 10% of the baseline weight. There are likely more effective options which you can talk through with your Bariatric Specialist.

teedsg got a reaction from LoveLife2021 in Hello, any veterens around?I’m almost a veteran. I was sleeved in 2017. Never reached my goal weight. But, I did get down to 185 or so. My advice is if you are a sweets lover or have binge eating issues, go with the gastric bypass. I didn’t listen to my first doctor and got the sleeve. I’m back up to 222 and struggling to get my weight down. My other advice is to not get off the dietary/lifestyle plan. -

teedsg reacted to sassyxxkathy in ESG post dietNo cutting, no stomach removal. Not head hunger; it was stomach growling hunger. I know that there is an issue with ESG not removing gherlin producing portion of stomach.
