  1. I’m torn between getting the ESG over the bypass. How did you decide which one to do?
  2. Omg! Sorry for this late update, but after a long time dealing with which procedure to get, I ended up going with the SASI bypass on January 9, 2024. My surgery went well. I was immensely sore. I had so much excess gas in my stomach it was unbearable for at least 3 days after surgery. I didn’t get complications until two weeks after surgery and I have been up and down on feeling ill ever since. My surgeon put me on purées for the rest of this month. 🙃 other than that, I’m alive and well. 😀

    Total regret

I think you might need to talk with your surgeon and be really detailed about when you can’t hold down food. All the time? Only in morning? Before bile movement after BM, certain food triggers, etc. I got the Revision from the sleeve to the SASI bypass. I had the sleeve in 2017. There was a balloon at the top of my sleeve stomach and for the past 2years I was wondering why after I took a BM, I felt bloated and I always had gerd with a little regurgitation. It took my new surgeon to tell me that I had a balloon/bubble. So, basically I didn’t know I had that until my 1 day post surgery follow up on my SASI procedure on January 10, 2024. Long story short, I think you can do a revision surgery. I haven’t heard of a reversal. There’s the SASI and the SADI bypass.

Me! I’m January 9th I’m getting the SASI
  8. No, the SASI slims the excess of the stomach from the sleeve and meets the upper and lower intestines. I was quoted $18,900 for that at IBI Healthcare in Buckhead in Atlanta. The bypass is $14k. I think I’m going to go with the Bypass. My goal is to really stop eating bread and cheese. I am almost a vegan as I’ve cut out every meat, and all sugars. I want this tool to trigger dumping so I can really stop. My weight gain recently is due to starch and stress. And, I also stopped going to my therapist and my nutritionist. I’m restarting my therapy right now. Unfortunately, I’m back at my starting weight from back in 2017 which is 240. So, I’m a bit defeated by the recent weight gain. I’m hoping to start again with the process this week or next week. Since my goal is to lose 90 lbs, I don’t think the ESG would work for me.
  9. I can’t believe it’s been over a year since I STILL HAVENT made a decision. I have the money to do the surgery, but now I have added 2 additional surgery options. Now, I can’t decide between 1. Bypass 2. ESG 3. GSRE - gastric sleeve revision surgery 4. SASI - single anstanomis ilietal surgery. I know I’m spelling it wrong. This one is supposed to make you lose 60+ lbs and is one stitch.
  10. Anyone had a SASI procedure in Georgia?
  11. Ohh wow! That’s awesome! You did really great on the sleeve. I might have gotten to 185, but I never made my goal weight. We are so similar. My body loves to store water too. I can never get enough water in. 4 bottles is a struggle let alone 5. I would love to get down to between 145 and 165. But, for now, I’m setting the bar low so I can meet small milestones. Lol Sounds like you’re following the plan really well. I think that’s where I made my mistake. I’m going to continue eating right and watching the sneaky sugars. If I do it, it’ll be At IBI healthcare or true you weight loss in GA. Who was your surgeon?
  12. Cool! Congratulations on your weight loss! This is very good information. I appreciate your update and response. How much are you trying to lose? For the past month I did a complete overhaul of my diet to do very low carb and low calorie diet, and high protein. I’m so glad I was able to lose 15 lbs. I have 35 lbs to go. I might put the surgery on hold until I can get my diet under control. I didn’t know that the bypass will cause anemia. Surprisingly, my GERD went away with the diet changes. 😃
  13. Okay thanks! I want the bypass but I need to save up for it

    Day 21 ESG

Hi @Toesinthewater was this your first surgery or did you get a revision?
  15. I'm thinking about doing this surgery in Mexico. However, I don't think my husband is going to go for this process. Our concerns are safety, post-op, and covid. I'm not even sure if this is the right move, but I'm just looking at all of my options. $16k for a sleeve to bypass is a bit much for me to pay out of pocket in the states. So, for me the main driver is cost. My other option is to do the VSG to ESG which costs $11,995 in GA. I guess you can say cost is my driving factor right now because I really want to get this done. I need a second chance. By the way, I never been to Mexico, I don't have a passport (I'm probably the only adult who doesn't have one LOL), I never had covid, I'm vaccinated and boosted. Any help is appreciated.
  16. Thanks so much! I'll take a look at it. 🙂

    Thinking about revision

I can definitely relate. I’m in the same boat as you. But, this time around, I’m self paying and my budget is tight.
  18. That’s great! Which surgery did you have?
  19. This is one of my concerns because I’m self paying this time. I don’t want to waste my time or money.
  20. Very well said and that makes sense. 🙂
  21. Does this make sense? I live in Atlanta, GA and I've had two consultations for sleeve revisions. Both doctors are pushing for an ESG. To me it doesn't make sense. Sure it's less invasive and through the endoscopy route, but, I'm a little apprehensive. Neither of them said it will help GERD nor did they mention a good weight loss. An average of 15-20% weight loss is not good stats to me because it'll only give me approximately 40 lb weight loss. It seems like a quick fix that won't last long. Can anyone suggest any good Atlanta surgeons for a sleeve to bypass surgery? My google search is coming up short. There's one surgeon in Johns Creek I would like to try but it's out of reach monetarily because I'm self-pay. I'm 223, 5'4 and 5 years out of VSG. I want a revision because of GERD and weight re-gain. Any insight is helpful.

    Considering this procedure

I know I'm a bit late for this forum, but I was wondering did anyone experience dumping syndrome with this surgery?
  23. Yes, the office I'm going to get the consult at has lot's of experience with DS's. You made some good points. One thing is for sure, they will definitely need to do further testing to see what condition my sleeve is in. I'm just excited about moving forward and finding a good surgeon who will listen, wants to know more about my journey, and where I want to go with this. I need a second chance to get this right because I didn't get to my goal, reflux, and I should have gotten the bypass to begin with. I know I need to fight to make lifestyle changes, but the push of the surgery and having a better relationship with food is going to get me there.
  24. I'm so happy, I am going to a different doctor. I have a consult on Monday 8/15/22 to discuss the sleeve to bypass and the DS.
