Week out and hunger pangs!

Recommended Posts

I'm about a week post op (9/5/17) and I am feeling hunger pangs- or what I think is hunger pangs! I'm on liquids right now but I don't feel completely satisfied, I desperately want to eat at times, I would kill just for a grape! Uhggg. I was under the impression my hunger pangs would be non existent after surgery, but that's not the case for me. How did you deal with hunger pangs so soon after surgery?

I also feel like I am able to drink too much too fast. I can finish a bottle of Premier Protein within 20 mins. I am mindful of pacing myself but I feel like my stomach can handle a lot more liquid than I should be able to? I'm just really paranoid of stretching my stomach!

I think it's head hunger.
The growling I believe is just digestive track functioning.
I'm a band to sleeve revision on 8/31.
I want so bad to chug a bottle of cold Water etc but that's a bad habit I had prior to surgery being a guzzler.
I eat popsicles excessively to keep from from wanting to drink and large glass of anything
I also started sucking on sugar free jolly ranchers

Hi I feel for you, I'm also 5 days in to my post surgery.

Also on liquids I do feel full and I think I also don't crave the taste of food, but I do think about it, cuz I know what it taste like.

So I try keep my mind from foods and think about week 2 where I'm relly going to enjoy a tea spoon of other then Water.I also noticed that I can handle more liquids but its because liquids will be push threw, After 2 drinks im full but if I drink more it hurts a litle above my stomach Valve then is pushed threw then is confoting. Hope you get well soon and be optimistic about the futere.

Yess! I was a total chugger before surgery! I could drink a full bottle of water within seconds. That's one of the hardest things to get used to, is mindfully sipping my liquid instead of guzzling it down. I ended up drinking one of my Protein Drinks too fast a few days ago, i felt soo nauseated and ended up passing out for a good 16 hr nap right after. Weirdest thing. But oh how I would love to just chug an ice cold water! Sucking on popsicles is a good idea. I think i will freeze some of my Vitamin waters. [emoji4]

Before surgery i had two feelings- ravenous hunger and overstuffed. I will take a couple sips of my liquid and I will feel okay, it takes away my hunger pangs, but I'm not quite sure if I feel satisfied or full at all. I'm not used to that feeling lol. But i have read before that liquids get pushed through. I'm really looking forward to entering phase 2 and testing out blended Soups. Hoping I will get the ok from my doctor at my upcoming check up! Well wishes to you also!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
