How do I stop eating so fast?

Recommended Posts

I'm a fast eater 10 months out and if I eat too fast I get hiccups. I hate it!!!

I'm curious, if we eat the same portions but eat fast, does it matter? I eat fast too and nothing bothers my stomach. I mean I don't inhale my food but it's no way the chewing I'm supposed to do. Anyone know why it matters that we chew so much if it doesn't bother our stomach and we aren't over eating?

My Dr says the slower you eat and chew your food the better and easier it is for your body to digest the food you eat, which is better for your system, and also helps with weight loss.

Just had my 3 mos post-op. I have a hard time slowing down also, but since our stomach's the size of an egg, it's much better for us to take baby-sized bites over a 30 min period. For me, if I eat too fast, it all comes back up, which isn't fun. I use the ABC's method: put your food on your plate, cut it into baby-sized bites one at a time, then start w the letter A as you swallow your chewed up first bite. Form the A with the rest of your food. Afterwards, cut a bite off the A, then chew & swallow. Continue to form another ABC until you've reached your food limit and exhausted the ABC's. Playing w my food is new to me, but if that's what it takes to get me where I want to be, it's great for me. I actually use a baby spoon & fork to help me on this different but healthy weightloss journey. Getting 90 gms of Protein, drinking over 64 oz of fluids, and exercise are our daily goals, as well as being loving & forgiving of ourselves.

What an effort. Sounds interesting though. I've got two kids and I barely get time to eat nevermind making shapes lol. Would you do that at a restaurant?

I was told to Finnish eating after 20 minutes. Were all told different things it seems

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
