Exasperated With Eggs

Recommended Posts

Is it just me out here? I was not a huge fan of eggs before my procedure. Now that I am almost three months in post op, the sight, taste, and smell nauseates me to no end! I put salsa on them and cheese; however, I cannot get them down! Any ideas for a different way to eat them? After all, it is the cheapest Protein. [emoji505]

That stinks! A scrambled egg with cheese and salsa is my Breakfast almost every other day. Have you tried something like a frittata? Or a crustless quiche? Maybe a small serving with some veggies and some low fat breakfast sausage.

I have had them in a veggie scramble with cheese and I couldn't stand it. I could smell the eggs and the taste was just... BLAH! Maybe I will try a mini frittata next month. I tried to have a shrimp deviled egg last night and yuck. I couldn't finish.

Are you scrambling them? I'm sorry that they disagree with you. I have a jumbo scrambled egg with 2 oz of chicken and a slice of American cheese every morning for my first meal. It's a great way to start the day.

If they aren't working now, they may in a month or two. It is amazing how things change in the months after surgery.

Good luck!

Today, I purchased a small can of Corned Beef Hash. I am going to try poaching an egg for that. After this, that will be my final egg attempt for the month.

I have this "modified" omelet I make that is TO DIE FOR. It's crispy and springy and does not taste like eggs. Try it!

1 tbsp of cottage cheese
1 tbsp of tapioca starch (gluten free)
1 egg white
1 whole egg
Salt to taste
Herb to taste (I like thyme or oregano)

Mix everything until smooth, cook in a nonstick pan until golden brown and flip it over. Top with cheese of your choice and shredded chicken, or whatever you want. Sometimes I fill it with just a little bit of mozzarella, cottage or ricotta cheese. It fluffs up and becomes huge! I fold in the middle like a taco when it's ready.

I'm looking fwd to eating this again when I'm back on softs!

I have always been grossed out by eggs. But we have chickens, so I feel like I need to eat them. The corned beef hash trick is my favorite! Before surgery, I used to do a little grits, then a little egg, then hash. Yum!

I've also had luck with sausage. More sausage and a dry scrambled egg. Too much egg makes me gag, but if I get the ratio right, it's hard to tell.

Are you a hot sauce person? I love poached egg with Frank's RED hot sauce. Also I like hard boiled egg mixed with taziki sauce made with Greek yogurt

I will try sausage with it. Any particular brand or sausage blend?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
