Did You Pay in Full for Operation Before Leaving for Mexico?

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to check and see when did everyone pay for their operations. I want to be sure that the hospital is legit before give my money to people I've never met. I'm concerned that I will get to San Diego waiting for my ride to MBC and no one will show up. Was anyone else worried about whether or not the the hospital was legit.

I know I sound like an idiot. Can anyone chime in to calm me down.

Thanks

Your concern is legit, I too felt insecure about the unknowness of it all. I had to pay a deposit which I made through a bank money transfer. I paid the remaining balance with a cashier's check. We sent them a copy of it and when we got to the hospital we turned the check in to the person in charge. When you get to San Diego a driver will text and call you, he will pick you up and take you to the hospital. The hospital is small, nothing like the fancy ones we have here in the states but the doctor that operated on me Dr. Gutierrez was very knowledable, kind and caring. I'm certain they all are professional there as well. Don't be afraid, it will be over before you think about it and you will be on your journey to health. My experience was great, no pain and the nurses were very sweet to me. I wish you the best.

I used my credit card, because I didn't want to carry that much cash. I paid a $500 deposit using the card, then I let my CC company know well ahead of time, that I would me making a large purchase in Mexico.

I paid a $500 deposit through paypal, and the remainder with a cashiers check at the hospital in Tijuana.

If the place requires full payment first, I'd be leary.

Which place are you using? The place I'm using requires $500 deposit as well but I kinda want to go ahead and pay $3100 so I won't spend the money elsewhere or on something else! Lol

I went with Dr. Illan. (He is advertised all over this site). I had my sleeve on March 20 of this year, and had a great experience. I healed well, and am halfway to goal!

Feel free to PM me for more details about my experience. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I paid in full ahead, although payment was due at the time of check in. It was just easier for me and I paid through credit card.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
