  1. Hello, I had my surgery 9 days ago. I think it is correct to say that I wasn't in pain but more like the pain you feel in your side after running. It wasn't too bad, but it was there for about 2 days.
  2. Thanks, you guys! I'm going the cashiers check route! Thanks for the input!
  3. I just wanted to check and see when did everyone pay for their operations. I want to be sure that the hospital is legit before give my money to people I've never met. I'm concerned that I will get to San Diego waiting for my ride to MBC and no one will show up. Was anyone else worried about whether or not the the hospital was legit. I know I sound like an idiot. Can anyone chime in to calm me down. Thanks

  7. I am happy to say that I am scheduled for my bariatric sleeve op on 8/2 at MBC. I spoke with Joe (my coordinator). He said that I could either pay the 5000 before I left for the airport or email a picture of a cashiers check made out to MBC or a picture of the cash. Then when I arrived the day before I could pay the hospital. I guess I'm worried about getting scammed and showing up a the Dan Diego airport stranded. How will/did you make payment for your op? I just don't want to be screwed. I know I sound silly.
  8. I just got scheduled for August 2 with Dr. Valenzuela at MBC . They told me I needed to have paid for the whole op before the surgery. I was conserned that I would have paid the 5000, get to the San Diego airport and be stood up - skammed. Do I sound silly being nervous about paying upfront before I get to the hospital? What payment method will/did you use to pay for your op?
  9. I've been grappling with would I rather be thin and wrinkled or obese and less wrinkled. It's a hard decision. I have noticed that over weight people have a hard time moving around (me included). Older overweight people really have a hard time moving. I see thin elderly people and they seem to be able to enjoy life a whole lot more. I'm concerned not just about wrinkles, but huge flaps of lose skin all over, which I hear is more extreme if you are older. Has anybody had the surgery and had to deal with this? I also heard that even if you lose weight slowly, at my age 56, I'm still going to have flaps of skin. Apparently meaning that I have huge weight issues or folds of skin to look forward to.
  10. I haven't had my surgery yet, but a few weeks ago I was sore all over. I decided to increase my protein. That helped. What really helped was drinking a glass of fat free MILK. I have been taking calcium tablets for years. After 2 days of drinking 1 glass of milk a day; the soreness went away. Now I drink a glass a day. I don't think the cal supplements did very much for me.
  11. I contacted Mexico Bariatric Center and have started the ball rolling. I asked about the pre op diet.Chloe (the woman who game me initial info) said that the pre op diet depends on BMI and other health factors. It's not the same for everybody. Is anybody else going with MBC?
  12. How awesome! Good luck!!! I just finished with the medical survey. I'll be right behind you guys hopefully!
  13. That is so cool! So what did you have to do to get to this point (blood work, interviews, doctor visits,).
  14. I'm considering getting surgery done in Mexico. I have insurance that would pay for it if I had a year of proof that I have been on a diet and on an workout program under a doctors care. I don't have that. It sounds like getting surgery in Mexico is great! I just am afraid of getting scammed. But I'm ready to take the plung!
  15. Some of you spoke about the pain after the surgery. I don't understand. Why didn't the doctors give appropriate pain killers. I had a cesarean after my daughter (21 years ago) and I did not have any discomfort because I had pain medications. Is there some reason why they can not give enough for the bariatric patient to be comfortable? Are some doctors/ hospitals more understanding of this than others?
  16. Sorry about that! I basically typed my whole question as a title. So, how much did the surgery cost hotel and all
