Christian bandsters

If there are any Christians out there who are looking for special support during this time I thought we could start a thread related to this. It might help with those thoughts and doubts as to if this is the right thing we are doing or any other 'shares' that might come to mind. I could use some at this time in my walk.

Good morning all!!

It's a beautiful yucky day but it's another day in this wonderful journey!! I'm starting off right with a Protein smoothie that I made (I've had better so I'm going to exercise a little prayer to get that down ;) ).

I pray that each of us has God's grace and mercy with us today to help keep us on plan!

I'm so dissapointed today. I've been looking forward to my first fill for weeks and today the weather is horrible. Schools are cancelled and people are told to stay off the roads. I did get rescheduled for next monday so I guess I can wait that long. This whole process has been a lesson in patience. Maybe a much needed lesson!

sfeiner - Sorry for your disappointment in getting your fill, but the best things in life are worth waiting for afterall! Hang in there Monday will be here quick!

I am knew to this thread,infact just today did I find it, still awaiting approval, have been real depressed, have prayed almost a year for ther Lord to help me make this decision, I do have many mobid obsity health issues,and I know there are many co-exsciting problems that could accur, but once decision was made, felt it was through Christ help, now I have been waiting for almost 5 months, have recieved 4 letters from BCBS, really never denied, just each one different, telling me I lack one of thier qualifications, well I feel the Dr office would not of sent it in if they did not feel it was all their, I have had my knee's both at same time replaced twice in the last 2 years,I personally think my qualifications has nothing to do with it, I thing its about the money. Now all of a sudden ones health issues mean nothing but the money does, I'm sorry I worned ya all, I "BELIEVE", I Trust in HIM, I pray daily for all of us, but I really am dow, GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU WHO LISTENED TO ME TODAY. I've just stumbled on all this and feel hope for the first time. I am a Christian and I know the Lord desires for me the very best as His Child. I am excited about the prospects of having this done. I am also excited to know you are all here for support, prayer and advice. I want to be there for you as well. I'm just way behind. I can offer prayer though.

Did any of you have to go through conseling prior to the surgery? I am calling a place locally today that will help me find a surgeon who does Lap Bands and then I will research his practice, etc. I know I need to know if my ins. co. will pay for it. Is there anything else I need to do prior?

Hi everyone.

This past week, my first week with the band has been great. It truly is a blessing from God. While there are still struggles, God is I can feel God giving me the strength to persevere.

Sfeiner, I pray that you will be able to get your fill sometime soon.

CrynNside, my sister and I had to talk to a psychiatrist before we were cleared for sugery. Prior to that though, we talked a lot in our family about it as well as another person who had gone through the procedure. I pray that you find a surgeon and be able to do the surgery.

Eileen, I had my band put in just 2 days before you. I hope you're recovering well.

Hollyberries, how is your son? I pray that everything went well with his surgery.

Becky, I pray that you are able to have the surgery approved and your health improves. God makes things happen in His time. Don't lose hope. He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to his power that is at work within us.

Becky, Hey girl glad you posted sometimes you just GOTTA get those pinned up feelings out! It is good to share with us your daily worries and burdens, God will hear your prayers. It is a long journey in getting the band approved by insurance but it is well worth the wait. It was a lesson in patience for me. I will pray for you that God will give you the desires of your heart with the band getting approved and that He will give you assurance that it is what he has planned for your life and that he will give you patience as you wait. hang in there sista! God will never let you down!

Hi Crynside2bthn, welcome to our thread. This is a totally awesome support group in this Christian thread. God works through things like this and he will be there for you too!

Yes, counselling was required for my band process. I was about 4 visits if I remember correctly and I am thankful they did. It was good for me to talk to the counsellor about all the hidden feelings I had about sneaking food, using it as my comfort crutch, etc. So I am all for couselling. Good luck on finding a good surgeon, please make sure he is board certified and ask how many surgeries like this that he has done before. If they get offended by you asking then I would be leery of using them as you as a patient have a right to know their experience with putting the bands in and if they know about them indepth.

I know, I know don't I have anything else to do right now beside typing on this board? :typing: Yes, I do, but I needed a break from my job and thought I would pop in and see what is going on here... I have two praises to share as well...

1. My dad is to start his first chemotherapy treatment on this Thursday and we found out that it can be done at our local hospital and that it will be covered by insurance. PRAISE THE LORD! WHOO HOO,:whoo: Did you feel the earth shake just then? I thought so as I just did the happy dance!

2. My friend JR that I mentioned in a post earlier this morning just called me and her band is still in the right place and has not slipped! Praise the Lord again!

Just had to share. I promise to get back to work now and leave you all alone! Thanks for praying! :angel:

Sorry if I forget names....my desktop is down and it's hard for me to scroll on my daughter's lap talk.

For the one that's grown weary in the process, don't give up. It will happen in God's time. It does take time even though my story was faster approval than most. I had to go to Psychiatrist , Dietician, Lung Specialist and approval from my PCP. I know you think you are at the end of your rope and probably so frustrated with the weight and your lack of success in losing. I understand that totally but hang in there. time.

To the one who didn't get your fill today, Monday will be here before you know it. At least you didn't do what I did.......had a 2nd fill date for 11/14 and arrived 1 hour late due to getting time mixed it and couldn't reschedule until 12/19. Despite no restriction from 1st fill, I've managed to lose about 2 lbs in spite of and if you add the 3 I gained over Thanksgiving then lost it the next week that would be 5 lb lost. I've said it before but this entire band journey has been a God send. Even though I don't have restriction, I do think about my food choices more than I ever have in my life!!

Welcome to you who God sent to this site. I was feeling weary like you one night over some other issues and God led me here. I've felt every prayer and have been so encouraged. It is awesome and if nothing else, you can vent or as lapbandfan said, give praise report(Halleluia to your Dad's report lapbandfan). We alll are going through , coming out and getting ready to go through trials and tribulations in daily life. We are all in different seasons so it's good to share.....cry, shout, scream....whatever. Someone will respond to you here with an encouraging word and prayer.

Hey all, just checking in. :ranger: Got my first mug of coffee and thought I would touch base since I got all caught up in work yesterday.

I am so excited that I am allowing God to help me this week stay on program with my eating and exercising, next I gotta work on keeping that up plus adding more Water to my daily life. I am generally following the weight watchers program with the exception of the band diet rules, and walking on the treadmill while watching Walk Away The pounds video by Leslie Sansone.

What exercise do you all do? Got any pointers on getting all your water in? I just grow tired of water. I am trying to do better by getting it in by the form of green tea and sugarfree flavored fruit powders.

I have been really struggling getting into the Christmas holiday spirit this year, and it is really bothering me. I want to say it has nothing to do with my lap-band, but my head tells me it really does because I have been so involved in learning the lap-band life style that other things are being neglected and put on hold. We are traveling for the holidays, so I had not planned on doing major Christmas decorating, but I have done nothing! Yesterday I finally took a Christmas tablecloth out of the linen closet and ironed it and put in on the table. It looks kind of sad, so I am am going to go purchase a poinsettia tonight to go on the table. Sunday night at chruch the youth had their Chrismtas program and I was excited about going to see it, but still never really "felt" the holiday spirit. We have not even celebrated Advent in our home, which is something we always do.

I have been praying that God will help restore to me the joy of the holiday. My husband told me last night, maybe He wants me to focus on me right now and not the holiday, that He gave me an important tool and I need to not put this on hold due to a holiday. I guess I am feeling guilty that this is a time to put myself aside and focus on others and the birth of my Savior, but it just isn't happening. I guess it is something I am just not use to doing, and being out of what is the norm is creating a struggle for me.

I knew there would changes in my world, lifestyles, etc...but I think this one just kind of "snuck up" on me. I wasn't expecting this one.

Wanda I read your thread and know what you mean. This Christmas is different. Some of our old habits we have to break. Christmas has always been hard for me. So I will pray for God's Sprit to help you and fill you with Joy over flowing joy that us Christians should have all the time.
