Any August 2017 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I am having surgery August 16th. I am a single mom of 8 and my youngest has special needs. I do struggle with anxiety about having this done and not being there for a few days for them; however, I keep reminding myself this will allow me the opportunity to become a better mom for them, a healthier mom. So many emotions.

I feel the same way Newdaydawning! Praise to you single mom with 8 kids! Don't know how you do it! Let me know if you need any mama support. I know it's hard with 2! I can't imagine 8

Hey everyone, I'm a single 34 yr old and my surgery for the sleeve has been scheduled for Aug 22nd. I've been really focused up till now, Lost 20 lbs originally with really regular gym going and fairly decent eating. I went on vacation and gained 5 back :/ so working at getting back in the swing of things.

I'm starting to get nervous. I have a long family history of people having gastric bypass so once the dr said i needed it I just went ok let's get it done. Now that it's booked I'm more apprehensive but I know this is for the best.

I struggle with eating too much. I have been doing really good Breakfast and lunch then I eat too much at dinner. Then after kids are in bed I struggle. I have lost 12 lbs so far, but it's definitely tough. I would totally over eat on a cruise. Lol

I don't have kids but I have this trouble too. I bring Breakfast and lunch to work so I do well when my structure is in place. Once I'm home I don't do nearly as well.

I am not scheduled yet. I have been doing the 6 months of nutrionist 27lbs down and have had my pre-op with my primary. Just need my endoscopy done and then approval process. I am hoping for some time in august but do not have a date.

I'm starting to make a shopping list for the pre-op and post-op diet. My surgeon is having me on a liquid diet for two weeks before and after. Anyone else have the same diet plan for a month? Any suggestions on what your stocking up on for Aug?

I was scheduled for August 16 but a slot opened up and I'm having it done June 27! I'm on day 2 of my pre op diet. I had my premeir Protein Shake mixed with Decaf coffee and I'm having chicken broth with a bit if breast meat. I used my crockpot to boil the breasts very soft and then added the stock. I seasoned with garlic powder. I also have some Vitamin Water drops to flavor water. I haven't made any sugar free pudding or Jello. I bought some Protein Powder I can make shakes with that is chocolate flavored but haven't had that yet

I'm scheduled for August 21st. They have to schedule my pre-op appointment with the nutritionist and then I meet with my surgeon sometime in early August. What state is everyone located in? I'm in North Carolina.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
