Post-Op Diets

Anyone not on liquids post op? I was on a 2 week pre-op liquid diet and day one at home I'm off liquids and in soft mushy foods from the food processor like fish, tuna, chicken and eggs. I see a lot of people on liquids or shakes for a week or so after and was just wondering if anyone was on the same diet as me and how successful you were.

Thanks!

I'm on day 9 and only allowed cottage cheese, non fat plain yogurt, apple sauce, non fat milk, broth, protein shakes, eggs and fish. I don't have to blend anything. I stick with the plan and don't deviate. Starting to get bored of my food tho.

I'm in the same boat. Literally. But, I'm sticking to it. Maybe, try some different protein shakes, or mix it with yogurt and truvia to give it some depth. Hang in there, we'll progress quickly. [emoji4]

My program had puree and other heavy liquids/mushes in the hospital (scrambled eggs, yogurt, etc), continuing at home and progressing to other soft proteins as tolerated the first month, with liquids as needed for protein, etc.

It's curious that you had that liquid pre-op diet - most of the programs that I have seen that have the experience and confidence to use a fairly quick post op progression don't do any extensive pre-op dieting (we just had the normal day before GI surgery liquid diet and clean out.)

I did as much liquid as possible two weeks pre....my post op is 3 weeks liquid, then 3 weeks purée/mushy. I'm only on day 3 post op and can't imagine how I'm supposed to get my protein AND 64 ounces of water.
