wow, love the transformation. I am looking now for who will do my skin removal surgery. So much research and I'm just beginning. Any tips on where to start and what questions to ask. it will all be out of my pocket paying for it. Is there something you know now that you wish you knew before you got surgery?

I was very fortunate that the surgical center where I had my sleeve also had a plastic surgeon that specialized in post weight loss skin removal (he also assisted on my sleeve surgery, so I had an existing relationship). I thought about having additional consultations, but I had absolute faith, so opted not to see anyone else. I was 100% self pay for all of my surgeries, too, so I did contemplate going to Mexico, but ultimately, I was more comfortable staying close to home even if it was going to cost significantly more. From everything I read, it seemed like most people who were unhappy with their results, went in with unrealistic expectations. In my consultation & in my pre-op visits, I made sure that I understood what he was going to be able to do… and each time, the results were better than I expected! When you go for your consultation, be clear about what you want most as it's possible they'll recommend more than one surgery. Make sure you understand what is included in the price they quote. Does it include follow up visits? Will they correct dog ears or scar revisions if needed? Everyone heals differently, so if time off from work is an issue, I suggest planning for a long recovery (I'm big on hoping for the best but preparing for the worst). Make sure they're going to be available to you if you have more questions after your consultation… you really need to feel 100% comfortable with your team! Best of luck to you. It's expensive & the recovery is rough sometimes, but it's totally worth it!

that was wonderful how you had the same place for everything! also i haven't heard anything about dog ears, i need to look that up. your tips were great. i will sure use them as i am looking. i also agree about being realistic in what it will look like after. I already am so happy to be healthy and my close do hide a lot but i know having that skin taken off put a whole new feeling and level of achievement when its all said and done. i have the time off work to heal. thank you for posting and being a light for us who are learning.

Not sure can add much. I also thought was worth the price to stay close to home. I consulted several PS and went with one with tons of post weight loss work. Do what is comfortable These Doctors are artists on top of medical providers.

Thank you for all of your tips and encouraging photos. I am having my pannis on June 30 and am pretty nervous, but determined. You've given me some good last minute questions to ask before the surgery. Thank you. and best wishes for your continued recovery.

Do you mind sharing how old you are? Just curious. [I'm 61]

Proud of you!

(PS [AlexB]: I don't know why my ticker weight reads Goal Weight 170; it should be 175. It didn't change. Oh well. And I'm holding steady there cuz I don't want my face to get too thin.)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
