3day post op, the protein shakes are killing me.

Ive tolerated everything such as water broth, jello and protein but I hate drinking the protein shakes. I find it too sweet now and it always take me more than hr to finish it. The thickness leaves behind a chalky taste and sometimes I have to wait a while to have another sip because I'm afraid that I'll start coughing. I coughed the other day and I swore I broke a stitch (I'm exaggerating) but it was definitely not a cool feeling.

1 week since I've been sleeved. I do premier protein shakes and add FairLife NonFat milk. Cuts the sweet and the thickness. I do one part choc, one part banana, or one part strawberry and one banana. Helps keep it new.

That sounds really yummy. I am going to try that. ?

I use premier protein ( I have them s hipped from Amazon) I cut them in half with water and add egg protein powder. I drink 3 day takes about 1 hour for each. This gives me 120 grams of protein for the day and 40 ounces of water.

Nice!!!!

I had problems with protein shakes also. I was sleeved on April 24 and still can't get them down. I had a bad reaction and thr Doctors office told me that 90% of their patients have an adverse reaction to artificial sweetners. I was told to stop and wait a month or two and try again.

I love my protein shake. It may be the kind you drink.
I drank 5 star whey isolate protein. Chocolate flavor. I mix it with water and ice and sometimes unsweetened almond milk.

Get some unflavored Protein Powder and mix in with your broth. It was a lifesaver for me in the first few days post-op.

Isopure makes a flavorless protein powder that mixes well with anything I would suggest using this you can get it from amazon or gnc I mix it in with my jello

I was the same boat. Loved the premade drinks before surgery. Now not so much. I bought some Nectar fuzzy navel and lemonade. It is more the consistency or Chrystal light. It goes down smooth and thirst quenching when
I mix with just water and ice in a shaker cup.

I've heard every doctor had their own instructions. In the hospital I was on clear liquids only but when they discharged me they told me to start my Proteins the next day along with clear liquids like Water, broth,Jello and SF ice pops.

My instructions are exactly like yours. I managed 1 protein shake in two days. Taste wasn't too bad, but I prefer savory to sweet myself. Hope you find something that works for you.
