@Apple1 I really wish we were neighbors! Ha! That Soup looks so good! I don't think I've ever made homemade chicken noodle Soup. I've made chicken and dumplings (and not the store bought dough stuff--I like from scratch). I'm guessing that could be close enough to a broth, before I thicken the juices. Sounds so good now.

Oh yea I love me some homemade dumplings 😊.

For me the best broth for soup is made by cooking the chicken pieces with the bone in, in the pot. My dh is eating seconds as I type. I am still letting mine cool down a little.

Do you just drink it like Water or can you also mix it with other things like coffee and yogurt? If it tastes good I may just use it as my water and forgo mixing extra Protein into other things.
I am going to go and try to find it today.

Drink it like water!!

I can't stand the flavored water. I was able to drink a unsweet passion tea from starbucks yesterday, but the sugar free anything drinks make me gag. The final day before surgery- just clears- was ridiculous for me.

When I say I have a harder time with Water, it's that it literally feels like it goes down harder....does that even make sense?? IDK.

On a different note- can we talk about Vitamins? I'm currently taking a MVI 3x/d, Biotin, B12 sublingual, and 3 calcium chews daily...it's a mess.

I do understand what you mean, I think. When I try to drink plain cold Water I can feel it going all the way down to my stomach and then it hits it hard. I hate that feeling. Room temp water does not do that to me only cold.

I am taking Bariactric fusion chewable berry flavored 2x and Biotin melts 1x. My Calcium levels are really good so I am not taking any extra until after my first blood work at 3 months out and then only if I need it. I like the fusion chewable it was pretty easy to take.

So, the only people that knew about my surgery was my grandparents, my mom, and my two best friends. Today, I kind o had an epiphany...why do I care if anyone else knows? I'm becoming heathy for me, and am changing my life. It is by no means easy, so why would I be ashamed and care what others' opinions are? Just sharing my life lesson of the day.

Hi there!!! Welcome to the thread! 😊 No scale for me. The one I have is collecting dust. Lol. Oh wait, you talking about food scale? Yes, I did buy one. But I don't think I'll be using it till I'm good with getting food down first. Lol

I'm not really using mine yet either because I am still on liquids.

Great lesson! I don't care who knows...I've actually shared with many people! Yesterday I thought, maybe I'll end up being a coach or something for women going through the process of WLS. I have the heart to encourage and help other women in different aspects (currently, I've got a few friends having trouble with their marriages. They call me, I help and pray with them) I love getting together for coffees and some solid downtime talks. It's just who I am....and this just might be my training ground for the wls portion.

Your my kind of girl! That's how my circle is, and the woman in my family, just how you described yourself.

I couldn't find the Cocotein, but I found some other flavors. I am impressed by the 40g of Protein. I can sip on this all day long. I am going to try it tomorrow.

I'm not too far off from you. I take multi's 2x, b12 sub, and 3 calcium chews too. I forget all the time, so I use the Round app. It's helped immensely. It pings when I'm due. I am grateful for that piece of technology!

I'm still so sorry. i don't want to get up all in your business, but I just wonder why she didn't do nothing when you were a teen. I'm just sorry about that. But, it's time to move forward, right? Nothing we can do about the past but make the best of everything and go forward!!! 😊

It's ok. I felt the same way but I can't be mad cause the doctor didn't give her anything to go with like see a specialist. I did let it go cause my mom is great and if she was pushed to check it out she would of but they didn't even tell when i got older during my own checkups with doctors. Life is good and it's doesn't even hurt. All I remember as teen is getting an upper gi and all the gave me was antacids to take. So how is your day so far. Lol

Love covers all. She did her best. I applaud your mom for that. 😊

Day is good. It's been a long day actually. My knees are currently aching. Not sure why, but I'll be glad when most of this weight is off.

I posted somewhere on bp, my 7 year old exclaimed that she didn't want me to get smaller, she loves me just as I am. Lol. As much as I appreciate and love her, I cannot stay the same. Of course my 4 year just repeats it. 😂

What did ya do today?

Lol! I'm in south texas, Corpus Christi. My mom is originally from Wichita Falls, Texas....so I learned it from her. 😊 She always made them growing up, especially when we lived in upper Michigan for part of my childhood. Super cold winters and super good hot homemade chicken and dumplings. Yum. It's one of my favorites.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
