I will only post here about two reservations I have about Keto. It's high fat. Healthy fat or not, I'm concerned about heart health down the road, amongst other things. And it's really is just another diet. Once you're off of it, you'll most likely gain your weight back. That's why I'm adopting a sustainable for life diet now. I don't want to "diet" ever again. But if that's what many people and you have considered, y'all have my blessing and I hope it goes well. 😁

Aww that's soo cute thanks lol. But listen it's never too late.. specially now.. there are men that are looking for companions. I know because i have aunts that have found companions at your age too. And plus.. at your age is easier because more then likely their kids are big already so you wont have to deal with being a step mom to little kids and stuff.

I still have a preteen that Im still raising.

Yea, salad seems a ways off for me too. I am going to try some baked salmon on Monday as I am allowed puréed meats next week.

Please show a picture of it.

Thank you for posting your guidelines @Newme17. I agree with you in that there is no one diet that is correct for all of us. We all have different medical issues, cultural differences, religious beliefs..ect.

I was following a low carb diet before my surgery because I was trying to control my type 2 diabetes without insulin. It was working and I was able to reduce my A1c from over 11% down to 6.2. The problem is I don't know if that diet is sustainable long term for me, or if in the grand scheme of things it would be healthy long term. My cholesterol is high as is my triglycerides.

I am just trying to figure out a plan moving forward and at this point I would like to believe healthy means balanced.

Definitely this. My step daughter is my hardest child (we had custody of her). I'm sad to say, I'm relieved when she spending the night at a friend's house. Lol. She's 12 going on who knows what!? Like she knows everything. Drives me nuts. Some people actually get a break with step kids, I'm not one of them. I love her dearly and would adopt her anytime, just wish the bio mother would relinquish her rights. It'll make things easier.

Now, I believe God put her in my life and I am to raise her. But if I had known all the headaches, I'm not so sure I'd pick to be a stepmom all over again. Kind of makes me sound like I regret, I don't. Just don't wish all the drama on anyone, whether they choose to or not.

Does that make sense? And if you've been a step kid before, looking back, was there a lot of nonsense drama that could have been prevented? I wouldn't know. I'm the first in my family to carry the step title.

Okay, back to WLS, lol. Had my Premier Protein with two green bombs. Success!!! I feel so much better having some veggies in my body. Going to make sure I add them everyday. I could use a bm. 😁

My parents divorced when i was in 3rd grade... enough said.. I have been through it all. You are a good woman @Newme17

and I still haven't had a decent BM here. Ready to move on to the heavy hitters today.

I drank apple juice diluted with Water and it flushed me out today. One of the reason, I haven't been posting too much today. I am truly sick of those Celebrate Vitamins so big and yucky I'm almost threw them up. I got to get some chewables fast.

Whatever stays down I will eat. That's going to be my diet. Lots of meat veggies and grains once I get completely cleared.

Me neither! I feel stopped up. That's why I'm hoping the green bombs will get to working. Especially before my post op appt on Wed.

Are you taking the tablets? If so, I'm taking those same ones. Twice a day. Big and bulky. I eat them in like ten bites and it's the last thing I want in my mouth. Just thinking of them is making me feel a little queasy. Have you figured what you would take instead?

On another topic...I'm happy to say the backsplash is being installed by my hubby today. 😊 I'll show pics once he's completed.

Mom planning to make shrimp/sausage and veggies tonight, if my hubby gets done in time. I'm looking forward to the veggies! I'll be sure to post a pic too. We all like pictures. 😂

I have take them three times but they get stuck every time. Omg those big beige looking capsules. They have chewables but i have to order online my nut doesn't have the chewables which is where i got the tablets from. My nut only has chewable Calcium.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
