Pre-opt liquid diet

Recommended Posts

Well it's day two of my pre-opt liquid diet and I'm starving. I can hear my co-workers crunching away on food:(

I feel your pain. I'm on day three. How many weeks do you have? I have to do 3. I don't have co-workers, but family to deal with.

2 weeks so I guess I can't complain too much

Just curious...is the preop liquid diet...liquids only (all 3meals). I'm just starting the process.

Really depends on the doctor. Some are two shakes and just one meal with 4oz of meat two cups of veggies, others three shakes a day, some don't have pre opt diet, so many variations

Ugh yesterday (day 2) was worse than today. I have to have 5 shakes a day (already sick of them) ... then I get one serving of starch, fruit and veggie a day. I wish I could have some meat! Switching things around here and there to see what works best. It all sucks but it'll all be worth it in the end....or at least what I'm telling myself to get through thelse 2 damn weeks! Good luck to everyone!

Hang in there. I'm 7 days post op and the liquid diet sucked for the first 5 or so days. After that, I felt great, had a ton of energy and wasn't even hungry. It'll get better.

This gives me hope because I feel like I am dying on day 2 lol. My body is detoxing and making me feel ill (massive headache, night sweats, vomitting) just a few more days. It's crazy that I have done this to my body and all of the toxins that are in me. The way I feel right now just confirms that I have a serious food addiction.

Hang in the ladies.

So glad you posted this. I am on day 7 of a 2 week pre-op Protein Shake diet; and am STARVING!! I am beginning to get concerned with my experience after the ByPass.. will I feel like this most of the time? Right now I can eat some lettuce when it gets really bad, but after the procedure solid food will be a long way off.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
