This is the most talked about topic here. I lost hair from 5 months to 2 years. I seriously wore a wig 2 years. Or a visor or hat in Florida heat. My hair is blonde and fine. I stopped coloring, and tried every product except Rogaine. I took Biotin 3 worthless years. I hear people say they use extensions but my fragile hair could not have taken that. I wish you the best. 4 years later I have healthy hair except it it didn't quite come back around my hairline. Bangs fix that. I would find a wig for emergency and be prepared. Mine is beautiful and cost $200. Wash and wear.

I am having the same issue they tell me its from rapid weight loss i am at the four month mark my sister also suggested Biotin started to take it. Went to see my endo on monday and he tells me to quit taking it. They just discovered last year that it screws with your thyroid. So i guess i am going bald [emoji22]

I'm 3 months out of surgery and thought....gee, I must not be going to lose my hair. It started two days ago!! I've never had anything like this happen. I was wondering how long this lasts and hoping it might stop before it's all gone. I too started taking Biotin because my nails just started falling apart last week. :(

I think I started losing my hair at about 4 months. I'm a little over 7 months out and its finally slowing down. When I went for my 6 month follow-up, he told me that it would stop once I stopped losing weight, but that didn't help me feel too much better for the present! I was already taking Biotin and fish oil, which he said would help, but he also told me to take zinc. So I have added that in also. I'm not sure if that is what helped it slow down, or if its just that my weight loss has slowed some since I don't have as much to lose now. Either way, I'm glad it has slowed!

My hair started to fall out a lot at two months and started to slow down around five months. It is still falling out, but not nearly as much as before. I was lucky to start with a full head of thick hair. I didn't take Biotin because I didn't want extra body Hair growth along with the head hair. I hope you find something that works for you.

Not at first. It just started for me, but it's enough that you will notice right away. You will be picking hair off of your clothes all day long. You'll notice your brush, you'll notice when you wash your hair. I just wanted to know how long it lasts, because at this rate over a long period of time, it could be a real issue.

Generally Hair loss lasts from 3-9 months, and starts regrowing at about a year. YMMV. Can be anything from evenly thinning to bald Patches.

Cheryl, we are in the same boat! Same height, weight, and surgery date! My Hair loss just started a few days ago and it's freaking me out. When I hated my body I at least loved my hair, and now I'm losing it! Doc says Protein is the key and I've been bad about that lately. If you find the miracle cure for this, please share it, but it seems like this is a wait and see thing and we just have to ride this out.

I lost hair from 3-7 months postop. I found keeping it up helped some. I won't lie, I lost a ton of hair. I'm not bald, but my hair got pretty thin. I'm now 12 months out and the hair is growing back. I would says it's about 2-3 inches where it fell out. Good luck, keep up with your Protein and Water.

I am losing a lot of hair at 6 months out. Thankfully I have a lot so it isn't that noticeable to others but every day my bathroom floor is full of it and in the shower. I just mentioned this to my program coordinator who is a nurse and she said to try, Zinc. Apparently she discussed this with the team, surgeons, etc. I have been taking Zinc for about a week. I was told not to try Biosil because you will grow hair every where you don't want it. Ugh! The pills are kind of big, abt. size of extra strength Tylenol. We shall see.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
