Wow, that is fantastic... 22 pounds in 4 weeks! You should be proud of losing that much. Try not to compare yourself to others.... we all lose at different rates. Also, you will most likely hit a "stall" sooner or later. Most everyone does... when I was at 3 weeks post op I stalled and didn't lose anything for 2 whole weeks. If and when that happens to you, just accept it and know that it happens to everyone.

Keep sticking to your plan and the weight loss WILL come, even if it is slow... you will just have to accept it. :)

@Black2028, I totally understand you. My surgery was 2/8/17 and I was 284. I have only lost 11lbs. I am losing slow and following my plan. I thought the larger a person was the more he or she lose upfront. Apparently this isn't the case. I decided to stop weighing myself daily, stop comparing myself, and work the plan. Although, the scale isn't moving, I sure have lost a lot of inches! I am happy with that. You should be proud of yourself on your weight loss thus far. I know it isn't what you want to hear especially from people that has lost >30 lbs in 5wks...Hang in there!

You lost .78 lbs a day. That's AMAZING!

This isn't magic, it won't melt off right away. It's going very fast and will continue to do so. Please don't be discouraged, especially with these kinds of results!!

My surgery was on 10/10, I have spent HALF that time not losing a single pound. But I keep losing inches, I'm working out as much as I can and I'm converting fat into muscle. This is not a linear straight line process. There will be ups and downs. I like to say our Metabolism is like an elusive mythical creature. It does what it wants. It doesn't like the body losing weight so quickly so it will slooooow down it's processes dramatically. And then be like OH DIP! I need to drop some lbs! and then whammo, you've lost 5 lbs over night. That's how it works for me sometimes. I just keep at it. Drinking my Water, running up the stairs as much as I can, eating Protein and staying away from carbs. This is gonna take about 8 -10 months if you keep at it dilligently and stay focused.

Don't let yourself get discouraged this soon with numbers like 22 lbs lost, that is a fantastic #! We have to take our wins and our weight loss with great joy whenever we can.

Everyone loses at a different rate. That's the most important thing you need to remember. I'm a slow loser too, and i'm currently on my second stall, and even though i get a little bit impatient it doesn't phase me one bit. I know the weight will come off eventually.

You just need to be positive and think happy thoughts. The fact that you're even losing is awesome, isn't that the one thing so many people struggle to do and few can? Don't give up, just keep at it and it will only get better for you. Best of luck! :)

22 pounds in a month is great! Plus you lost so much pre-op! I think I lost only 15 pounds in the first month and it continues to come off day by day. I have a NSV/ SV to share: I went to see my primary care physician on Friday for a physical. When the nurse was entering my stats into the computer, a big error box popped up saying that it was like a 30% change so she needed to reenter my weight. Hee hee what she'd entered was right. We lose weight so fast that even computers get confused! Hang in threre!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
