BeLiteWeight - Detorit????

Recommended Posts

I just got banded on the 11th by Dr.Wiener and he was GREAT! I dont deal with belite anymore, once i scheduled my surgery and got my dr, i talked to him. He is very informative and conforting, i plan on returning for my first fill. Belite is ok if you plan to deal with ur doc as soon as your booked. Dont expect to hear from them, really you dont need to either. Jackie, shannon and Dr.Wiener took care of all my pre-op questions .. and i plan on calling them for post op questions too!

Hi everyone,

I am interested in the lapband procedure and am seriously thinking of going to Mexico.I like their price there, but am afraid of not being able to find a Dr. back home (southeastern Pa.) to do the fills. Does anyone know where I may find a Dr. in Pa. that will do the lapband for some of the advertised prices that Dr.s in Mexico offer? Any info would be great. Thanx Anita:)

I am schueled for Detroit Harper Nov 9th. I read several Belite complaints here then went directly to Harper for questions. Belite got back to me then!!

Tell me everything about Harper!

I am looking for St.Louis fills...look like there is a professional "Fill company coordinator" that works thru docs call "Fills America". Anyone know anything?

Hi Lauren,

I had my lapband done in Detroit by Dr. Scott Laker on 9-18-07. I just had my first fill on Halloween. I have lost about 23 pounds since the surgery. No complications whatsoever. It is a great group there and Dr. Laker has a great bedside manner, not to mention, he is easy on the eye. LOL. I went through Belite also. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

Peggy

I received my lap band through Belite on October 24th. Most of the ladies work there and some of their family members are lap band recipients as well.

We drove the 804 miles from Forsyth, Mo and were put up in the International hotel on Harper Hospital's campus.

The staff are very professional and understanding. I needed one pain shot of Morphine after the surgery and never needed anything for pain after that even though we drove back the same amount of miles as we came. I had no trouble on the ride back.

Dr. Webber ROCKS! The scars are minimal. He also does the lap band surgery at Dingell Veteran's hospital half a block or so from Harper hospital. If you guys and gals are veterans check out the MOVE program at your local va first because it is free. (Unfortunately, the program takes about three months and then you wait for the surgery!) I am a veteran but got tired of the red tape and decided to go through Belite.

Please read some of the opinions on Belite on this site. They basically say the same things.

Also, be prepared to take at least $600.00 for your post surgery medicines! I was totally shocked to find that one out. When I told staff that and the pharmacy they acted as though that had heard that one before and just wrote me and my shocked husband standing there. I had no idea that that would happen, but now in retrospect I should have known that there would be after care meds. The 14 predrawn anti clotting syringes costs a staggering $280.00 plus dollars, the prilosec was a little over $90.00! I cannot remember what the pain medication and the last medicine costed.

Could you imagine me riding all the way from Michigan to Missouri without that medication? I was so afraid that I wandered to the va down the street with my prescription and they graciously gave me the medications within in hour without giving me a hassle.

I also had my lapband done at Detroit Medical Center on 9-18-07. We drove from Ohio and the only post-op prescription I got was for pain meds which I had filled when I got back to OH using my own insurance. I was taught to give myself the blood thinner injections and then the doc decided that I didn't need to have it after all. That was quite a relief. However, Belite had already brought me a gift package to the international hotel which happened to be enough syringes for the blood thinning injections. When I found out I didn't have to do the shots, I left the gift with one of my nurses, explaining the situation.

My surgeon was Dr. Laker who was just fabulous. I had no complications or problems of any type post operatively. I just went for my first fill on Halloween and have already dropped 3 pounds from that. My total weight loss to date is 26 pounds. I have to say, however, that I am doing cardi two times a day. I walk for at least 2 miles on the treadmill every morning (using the incline up to and past 5 degrees). At work, I walk two more miles on my lunch break (weather permitting). So, the weight does come off more quickly if you add cardiac exercise.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
