My understanding is that, once you have achieved proper restriction, you will feel full on the limited food amounts you quoted. But generally, not before. The people who are full on 3/4 cup of food have good restriction. That usually takes a while to acquire - maybe 3 or 4 fills in some cases.

I am in the pre-op testing stage. After reading this thread, I'm really confused.

After banding I know that we will still be having head hunger and all the head issues.

But when you talk about eating one cup of chile, a salad etc. and then still being hungry, why is everyone saying that "they have a couple bites of food", and are then full? Or, "all you'll be able to eat is about 3/4 cup of food". I don't get it.

I am hoping that being banded, I will feel "full" after eating a very limited quantity of food. That's not what I'm hearing....isn't that the purpose of the band?

I ate the chili & salad - my tummy was full - but I still wanted to eat - there is a different between being full and satisfied and still wanting to eat cuz it taste so good AKA Head hunger and imho it's sometime hard to know which is which. Are your really hungry - or are you just bored etc. - It's no diff than right now - you eat one serving of food - you aren't really hungry after eating it but it taste good and you still want to eat at least that's the way it was for me.

I have some restriction (i have only had 1 fill) but i can eat 1 - 2 cups food per meal

But this is the way i look at it - #1 i am eating healthy 1000 - 1200 calorie a day - and am getting my 60 grms Protein - #2 i use to eat more that 2 cups of food per meal #3 I am exercising - until I find my sweet spot - I will and can control what i put in my mouth

The band does not take care of your head hunger or what you put in your mouth and for us who don't know the difference between real hunger and head hunger (eating cuz it taste good, we are sad, we are happy, we are bored, we are stressed etc) this is where the battle lies - the band - bands your tummy and not your brain...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
