Hi guys! Im brand new to this forum. Ive just been reading through heaps of fantastic advice! Im being sleeved in Brisbane on Feb 15. Sooooo excited!

I know you have all probably answered this question to death, but can you tell me, what basic food days looks like for - liquid, puree, soft and then also a normal food day. Just basic. Kind of looking for some ideas on what to stock my fridge and pantry with prior to surgery.

Has your NUT or surgeon given you advice on what they want you to eat post op?

You should really go by their guidelines and congrats on the surgery!!

Not long now :D

Every surgeon has different guidlines for post surgery. I'm having mine on Feb 17th in FL. My surgeon has me on puree right away, progressing to solids in about 1 week. I will still need a minimum of 40 gr of Protein in shakes daily for the first year.

I found Premier Protein at Sam's for a good price!

My surgeon was hopeless, gave me a pamphlet and said follow this for the next 3 weeks. Wasnt at all helpful. My sister is a dietician and put me on to a book 'Your complete guide to nutrician for weight loss surgery.' I bought it on google play store and have found it a great resource. Gives you meal plans and recipes under each phase of post op surgery.

Hope this helps x

This site has some great recipes for all of the food stages. I HIGHLY recommend the baked ricotta in the puree stage:

Since each surgeon is different, its hard to say. For instance, my progression went Week 1 Clear liquids, Week 2&3 full liquids (which included things that were not liquid), Week 4 soft foods, and then progressed through 12 weeks. At week 14 today, there are still foods that I cannot eat. I will not eat a dense meat like steak until April 26 and I was sleeved on 10/26/2016. If you are getting no guidance from your surgeon or nutritionist, it's kind of scary, but in that case...if you PM me your email, I'll be happy to send you some of the sample pages from my booklet.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
