Recommended Posts

we are also under the impression that the first fill is free, i,ve got an e mail with details on so hopefully that will cover us. who was your contact for the band, our was tullia law, she was very professional but also quite abrupt with the answers to all my questions. thats why i have found this forum a lifeline.

I had my 4th fill on saturday. Saw Dr Chris de Bruyne this time instead of Dr Marc Forquet.

I was meant to have 6.5cc in my band but he only managed to get out 5.5cc.....said it was very clear so no worries about leakage. He added another 1cc so back to 6.5cc now.

Told him how I'd been eating too many extra ie chocolate and chocolate biscuits. Told me to have 4 small meals a day instead of the 2 I've been having.

So after 2 days of liquids I decided to make porridge for the kids this morning and have a little of it. I got myself 2 heaped tablespoons in a bowl but only managed half. It was very sloppy and thought it'd go down ok. The pain was starting in my chest...(you know the feeling) so I stopped. It's now half an hour later and I'm burping well and full!!

I hope its cos I'm still a bit swollen from the fill on saturday!!...surely I gotta be able to eat more than that!

Awwww never mind maybe we will meet for that shopping trip lol. Im sorry to hear you are not to well, I must of just been one of the lucky ones because I didnt get any sickness just gas in the shoulders and a bit light headed but apart from that I was up and about very quickly and to be honest could of gone home on Friday but thought it best to stay just in case, so went sight seeing instead. It only hurts a little in my tummy when I bend over, but apart from that everything is fine. Didnt much fancy doing the injections lol but have learnt very quickly to do them and they dont hurt at all.

And of course you are right about taking your partners or friends with you if you can, its a bit lonely recovering on your own, but you get throu it

How are you doing on the liquid diet, im begining to feel a bit hungrey now and am constantly drinking tea, cuppa Soups, apple juice and milk lol

hi

After all we've been through we deserve a shopping trip.

I have to confess to adding yoghurts and farleys rusks after 3 days. was feeling quite hungry..however, waves of nausea means I havent tolerated much at all... think my calorie count is very low.. will lose weight for that reason alone.. tried porridege this morning...very milky of course.. was good but again could only eat a very small portion.. given no restriction at the moment..I'm wondering how much I will be able to eat with a fill... my guess, a tiny morsel!!!..

My banding has leaked out at work.. apparently its the topic of conversation!!!...not what I wanted but there you go..!!

hi chriisy4, so glad everything worked out great for you and that you had no problems, reading about your trip has eased my worries a lot cos were off this thurs, bless us. my friend has an appointment at the doctors this wed so im keeeping my fingers crossed for her. how is the appetite now, are you hungry, when did they recommend that you have your first fill?

hi jojoyoung, im really glad to hear that your friend has at least taken the first step, fingers crossed for her. I will be thinking of you both on Thursday, good luck and let me know how you get on. Im feeling fine, wind has now gone and the incisions are healing very nicely, no real pain just a bit of a tug when I bend over.

I am now begining to feel a bit hungry and cant wait to start the next stage lol. They recommend you have a fill 4 or 5 weeks after your op. Dr Chris offers a double fill which he does in his office via an xray, you have one fill done, stay overnight in hotel then go back in the next day for another one which again is done by xray, so I am thinking I might go for this option. He is the only one that will do it, and he is not coming back to London for a while, so its worth thinking about. Fredrik only does the single fill.

How are you feeling about it all?

I wish you all the best for Thursday :tongue2:

Ooooo thats a good idea eating porridege, not tried that yet, just stayed on Soups and yoghurts. Today I had a banana milkshake and added whey protien to it which didnt really touch the spot lol. I feel I could have a fill now as im not really feeling full on anything much, but will try the porridege. Its such a shame that you are still feeling sick, I guess you have taken those tablets for nausea that they gave you? I didnt need them in the end, so if you wanted mine you can have them.

Have you made an appointment yet for your first fill, i havent but am thinking of going back to Dr C for a double fill.

Are you back at work yet? I dont go back til Thursday. Bugger about the leak at work, but you can be proud of what you have done, its not easy having everyone talking about you, but im sure they will be supportive now they all know. I didnt tell anyone at work so it couldnt leak but im sure they will start asking questions when the weight starts coming off and I have a Christmas dinner hurdle to get over in Dec lol, im sure they will wonder why I can only eat a tiny amount of dinner lol ooops, and of course I still havent told my parents, and my Mum always cooks a huge dinner for me, havent worked that one out yet. :tongue2:

here here.... email them to make sure all is in order...at the airport look out for ECF card.. they wont necessarily have your name on the card. Frederick met me in the hotel late at night.. he'l tell you what time the taxi will pick you up..0645 for me...on discharge, go to reception , ECF use renault taxi only.. so dont get into any other or you'll be charged. he visited me at the hotel again on morning i was flying home.. taxis were promp. Travel light..

HELLO FREDERICK!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
