I'm doing it now for my sleeve conversion on January 10th and have done it in the past for my band.

I have a shake for Breakfast (let the Water in your shaker freeze slightly- makes it more like a thick shake), followed by veggies and a shake for lunch and Protein and veggies for dinner. I drink 2 coffees a day, with a splash of milk to cut the bitterness, and as much diet jelly, miso Soup and diet cordial etc I want. I chew a few sticks of sugar-free gum to help with my disgusting ketosis breath.

Take a look at the opticook website- this has been a lifesaver for me this time and my hunger isn't too bad at all.

Has anyone experienced doing the pre ok Optifast diet before surgery? I have to do this 2 weeks prior to shrink the liver.

I couldn't stand the optifast but my dietician told me I could find another shake. I found one I could tolerate and sent her the stats and she approved and just had me add vegetables because the shake I chose didn't quite have enough carbs.

In Canada, if surgery is through OHIP, Optifast is the only option. 4 a day along with some other Clear Liquids. I did 3 weeks. It sucked!! My advise, just do as best you can :)

I did self pay not Ohip but I felt you dont like optifast it is worth finding an equivalent and asking. You'd have to pay of course. Optifast makes me vomit. There are people with food intolerances that they would have to accommodate so it is probably worth asking...

I'm a week into it and lost 20.5cm total from across my body. I don't own scales (unleashes my OCD), so was thrilled that it was all worth it.

I discovered the Opticook website and it has been a life saver!!

I am done with my monthly weigh in appts but I am,usually on lasix for Water weight retention. Haven't had any in awhile because I need to refill my prescription. So hoping this rain doesn't interf3r with anything. I go Monday to pick up my Optifast so I'm hoping to loose the weight I have gained and more before surgery

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
