February Sleevers -- Let's Do This Together

Recommended Posts

I know right. I even bought like toddler fork and knife and toddler plates lol so I can get used to portion sizes. I'm doing isagenix 30 day cleanse. 2 Protein shakes a day and healthy meal for supper. And then 2 days a week, for the first and second week are "cleanse days". When you use their juice and supplements. I've done their cleanses a lot. It worked really well for me in the past. I'm going to continue using their shakes and stuff post op because it has a lot of Vitamins and nutrients. However, some doctors say there is too much sugar. But the sugar is natural source and for all the other nutrients it has, it outweighs any other Proteins I have researched. My doctor is on board with it. So that's good haha. Also cleanse days are meant to lower visceral fat which is fat around organs! Like the liver and stomach, which we need haha. It's win win. Not the easiest thing to do but I know it's working. :)

Hey guys I got a surgery date for Feb. 8, 2017. I'll be having surgery in NJ.

Still haven't been approved by insurance yet tho. Very nervous about it actually as I have gained a couple of pounds due to the holidays and scared they might think I'm not serious about surgery . 8 pounds to be exact from the last time they weighed me.

I am 5'5 and weigh 248 now. When the first weighed me I was 240 in November

Really can't wait for the next 3 weeks to fly by and I hope I get approved!!

Good luck my feb. sleevers !!!! I will keep y'all updated .

Feb. 8th also!!

Hi all! Just checking in. I go for my EGD tomro at 12:30. Then to my lab testing/dietician appt on Thursday. I will start my 3 week liquid diet next Sunday. We are going out on Saturday to Benihana to Celebrate two of my children and my Birthday that I will miss during this next 8 week recovery b4 I'm reintroduced to actual food. I'm calling it the "last supper" lol.

I absolutely love the idea of the smaller utensils and toddler sized plates. I plan on doing this as well.

Good luck everyone

Paperwork was submitted in early December and was approved in less than two weeks! My date is set for February 16. I'm excited, yet scared! Its been since the late 90's since I've had any type of major surgery. My surgery will be in Birmingham Alabama.

What part of Ohio?

I am Cincinnati and having my surgery done by Dr. Trace Curry. Hopefully you get your date soon. Good luck.

My date is Feb 14th. That's right, Valentine's day! It is tentative pending insurance approval. I have BCBS and they required 6 consecutive month doc visits with weight loss management. I joined weight watchers and had a well documenting doc. Should find out by next week if insurance approves or if I have more hoops to jump through. Fingers crossed!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
