Oh gosh, I want to fit in a booth again ????

Me too. It's funny all the simple everyday things normal sized people take for granted.

Honestly, I think this is the best time of year to just have had surgery, we are restricted as hell and so we don't binge and gain a bunch of weight. We'll be losing fat and be ready for the summer. Also, if we can get through this, we can get through anything!

That's an interesting point of view. That made me feel better. ☺

Nothing that comes in a can is really that good anyway. Seriously. It's habit. You will be able to eat anything you want again next holiday season, but you will eat it in teeny portions and while wearing a MUCH smaller size. Focus on how awesome it will feel to fit into booths, wear single digit sized pants, shop anywhere you want...

It's ALL worth it.

That is truly the perfect response!

Thank you for that.

Yes, there's nothing like being walked to the tiniest booth in a crowded restaurant and having to say, 'Oh, can I get a table? This booth won't work for me.' :-(

It's ironic, though, that the smallest booths and bolted down tables and chairs I've ever encountered were at McDonalds. You'd think they'd have bariatric lobby sized chairs given the business they're in.

Hilarious observation, but absolutely true!

Back in the day, I used to absolutely hate eating inside any McDonald's.

Maybe they wanted the fatties like me to stick to using the drive-thru window only.

In their defense however, the newer McDonald's locations do still have bolted tables but the seating/chairs can be moved around to accommodate the biggest of bodies. Thank God!

And on that train of thought, why do the people who run the WWs meetings put the chairs so close together? I was FAT! I didn't want my thighs rubbing up against the thighs of people on either side of me!!

UGH!

If it makes you feel better it will be so much easier AFTER surgery to resist all those things. Hang in there

UGH!

I thought the same thing when I attempted to attend an OA meeting. I walked in and saw how small the chairs were and how close they were together and I quickly turned around and left.

I knew there was no way I could be at all comfortable with the kind of seating.

In OA's defense they do offer meetings online and by phone, both of which I participated in and found to be very helpful.

I always thought McDonald's did that because, like you said, it forced the heavy weights to use the drive thru, so they could kind of sweep the evidence under the rug, so to speak. You know in marketing, some guy with slicked back hair and an ivy league education floated the idea that people driving by any of their restaurants, and seeing the 'average' type of human sitting in those tiny little chairs, would cause a chain reaction of drivers going by, saying, 'See Beatrice, look at all those skinny people. I told you McDonald's really isn't that bad for us. Let's buy a Big Mac.'

Keep strong and stay the course it is so worth it. I have lost 80 pounds over all since the liquid diet and surgery!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
