Had my Sleeve yesterday 12/16/16

Recommended Posts

I arrived in San Diego Thursday afternoon, picked up on time and taken to Marriott in TJ, Mexico. Friday AM hotel shuttled 4 of us to surgical clinic for OCC at 6:15 am. Entire process was very organized, very friendly staff and great Doctor who came in and chatted for about 10 mins to get to know me a bit. One patient had arrived late Wednesday so all her tests were done Thursday so she was first one for surgery while rest of got all our tests done and taken to our private rooms. I believe I went 2nd or 3rd (little after noon). In recovery around 1:30 for 30 mins then back to my room. This is now where I'm wondering if I had the surgery (I do have the 5 scars though) because I literally had no pain after other than feeling like I had done 100 sit-ups (I know pain meds in my IV) no gas pains (few burps here and there), walked about 30 mins after and maybe did the short halls 10x back/forth maybe 5 times. This AM Dr came in to review meds taking with me and by 7:30ish back at Marriott. I had no problem with a small water bottle day of surgery and this morning already had cup of tea and a bottle of Water, all went down no problem. Go back Monday AM for the leak test then straight to airport. Maybe it will get rougher next feel days but as if know just pleasantly surprised at how easy it's been so far.

One comment to share, I brought a carry on and one of the medications they give you is a 5 oz bottle you need to add Water to and start taking the first day so then u need to check in your luggage on way home or bring with u a bottle that is 3 oz or less u can pour the rest into and take in carry on. @@DogRescueGal

@@megetslim hope your surgery went well and starting off smooth. I'm feeling really good today, day 4. It is hard to get all Water in (drank about 40 oz today) and 2 Soups with Protein added cause just not hungry. I stopped taking my pain meds end of day 2. Have zero pain, even in incisions. So far all is great. Look forward to hearing how you're doing. HW 230, SW 200, CW 194, GW 140

Doing ok. Still full of gas, but it is starting to release. Every time I sip something I feel stomach cramping but I am sure that will pass at some point. I like the Isopure drinks as they are clear like Water but come in multiple flavors and have 40 grams of Protein in one drink. They also count towards fluids and the bottles are about 20 ounces. Today's is coconut flavored and I will split in half for two of my Protein portions. Also having cream of mushroom Soup with beef broth and Protein powder added to it then strained. Not bad but can only get about 2 ounces down and then need a break. Trying to pace inside the house so I can hit a mile per day until early next week where I will start my aggressive walks. So far so good. Just want to fast forward about a week or so:) I gained 5 pounds in hospital so want to get that off quickly. I am sure it is all the fluids they give you and such. Hope you are doing great!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
